In Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halsey explains that Cortana and smart AIs “think themselves to death.” This was later seen in Halo 4 with the “death” of Cortana. But as we see in that same book, Déjà and Beowulf were operational well over the expected life span of a smart AI. I know that “dumb” AI’s are limited to how much knowledge/data they can take in. But do “dumb” AI’s have an expected life range like the smart AI’s just longer due to less knowledge intake?
This is just head canon so take it with a grain of salt but I believe they have longer life spans because they can’t think themselves to death like Smart AIs. Dumb AIs usually only work with menial tasks.
No, I don’t believe dumb AI’s expire like smart ones do. A dumb AI is more like a more advanced version of siri, or the real world cortana app.
A dumb AI just processes information like a computer. A smart AI is able to look at data and come to it’s own conclusions and new ideas.
“Dumb” AIs don’t have any sort of expiration date (except for maybe getting outdated by newer technology). The AIs that are considered to be dumb are basically the same sort of thing as modern computers, though programmed with a simulated personality. They last as long as their hardware does. They don’t really think or come to new conclusions like their counterparts, and each “dumb” AI has a specific field that it works and little or no insight or parameters beyond that.
Dumb A.Is most likely don’t need them.
They might have to get terminated over long-term corruption and so on, but they wont have an expected life-span or ability to develope rampancy.
All ais have one i think
