Do Bots Have Personality?

So, I’ve spent about 10 hours SLAYING bots, and I’ve seen their progression over the last day… and it makes me think, maybe these bots are using Machine learning to advance… They went from shooting all-over the place and staring at the ground to actually playing decently.

There are a few examples on youtube that explain how just throwing massive amounts of data, “averaging” it out, and then doing that over and over for an “AI”, improves it. Im not sure if that’s what’s going on here or if they are pre-set

But has anyone Noticed the bots may have personality?
Are these Bots all different, as in they focus on different objectives and have different Skill Levels?

My reasoning for this… Observing a few different bots… I’ve seen some act differently. Ill explain.

  1. Cream Corn: The funniest bot. He will knock your shields out, run up to you and stare at the ground. If he gets a sniper he’ll blow 3 rounds into walls in confusion. He sucks, but in a funny way.
  2. Godfather: Really annoying with grenades and BR, and is always hanging out in the back of the group. After you kill everyone he’s there to shoot you in the face.
  3. IMG_4346: “Take a look Y’all”: Well-rounded bot and is always conservative with shields and hanging around corners.
  4. Maya - The most shoot-able bot. Never sprints. always walks. Almost like the shooting range.

Any opinions are appreciated.

I think the same, some reinforcement learning maybe…but i dont know actually wich method or technique use the developers but something is clear, this is not some static code like CoD Black ops 2 bots, this is way more deep.

The moment i heard about this tech preview against bots my first toughts was
¿Why?
Then i heard a click and everything come’s clear, it have to be some advanced IA with machine Learning and how to training this BOTS if there are just a few playing in the studio or some pros helping, well lets launch a tech preview to test the game and at the same time training the machine to boost and accelerate the Time this IA grows and learn.

If you search for machine Learning in unity some people use many scenes at the same time to train the machine but some took even weeks for a simple game like tower defense.
So imagine the time to replicate a human in Halo :grimacing: its insane haha thats why i think they make us to play first this before everything.

:3

Maybe some expert in this field can teach us something or give us a better idea.

Little known fact in the Halo Lore - The beta bots are the spartans that got washed out during augmentations
