Before anybody gets mad at the title keep in mind that im black. But im wondering am i only black guy playing halo. I been playing halo since halo 3 and its amazing i never came across one black person. I played with british people, japanese, Spanish, and of course white people and everybody was cool but i never stopped to ask myself. Am i the only black guy that plays halo and follow the universe that is welll…halo(duh). Im cool with being the only black guy of the group it makes me feel like EMILE from Halo Reach. But being the only black guy that plays halo i think i should get some sort of reward from 343 for that(lightrifle imprint skin would be nice).
*Im talking bout being the only black guy that plays halo 16/7 not just play it for the first two months of its release and trade it in.

> No bro, your not the only Black guy to play Halo. And yes, this is coming from a Black guy as well, no joke.

> Its not really easy to distinguish someones race over Xbox Live. Not that it matters.
Unless they act like the Stereotype…I’m not really sure how you distinguish if someone is Black or not…
People don’t have different voices for their Skin color, voice and accent comes from Nationalities.

Different ‘ethnic’ groups use different slang, dialogue, and tone of voice. Which is why it’s easy to tell someones ‘ethnicity’ through the way they talk. (I’m using the word ethnic and ethnicity loosely).

But that’s still based on Nationality, or more specifically, just their general area they grew up
A black guy from say…the Mid-West, isn’t going to sound at all like a Black Guy from New York.
If someone is raised in a quiet neighborhood, they aren’t going to be going around spouting off slangs a whole lot
Probably the only thing I’ve noticed with Race, and their voices, is Black Males tend to have a deeper tone of voice…but that doesn’t say a whole lot because plenty of white guys do as well.

yuuuup, that is what makes it okay.
also… im waiting for someone to point how how a “black guy” paid for the game, and now that you paid for it you play it. and you want a reward?
This is a very odd thread OP, I have run into loads of Black people on Halo. A lot where English and sometimes you can’t really tell what someone looks lke by their voice, but I had no problem with it or nor did they. I remember seeing a thread like this a while ago when someone was saying that there was not enough ethic diversity in Halo.

Loooooool this thread is hilarious!
I am pretty sure you’re not the only black guy. As someone else pointed out, you can’t really tell with just voices. Im English so all Americans (for example) sound the same to me.
I rarely see any black people in Halo. There are lot’s of blue people and red people. It’s not a problem for me since I don’t like FFA playlists that much.

That relies on you being familiar with their ethnic group. Black is a term used for pretty wide range of people, mostly of African decent. In this case most people seem to be jumping straight towards African-American but there are also black people in England, Australia, Scotland and hell, Africa. I know a guy who is clearly of African descent (he was born in Egypt) but if you heard him on Xbox Live you’d probably think it was an Indian.
That’s not even counting the fact that most players don’t use mics. Given how much racism you hear over Xbox Live, it wouldn’t be out of the question for there to be a lot of players from such backgrounds to forgo the use of mics and have everyone muted.
No one uses the mics anymore so who knows. On average from the few micd players I’ve ran across, I’d say plenty from every race, nationality, and gender plays Halos.
It is an interesting question, and you made me think…I don’t know of any black characters in the Halo universe, except for Sgt. Johnson, who, is dead…and that other bloke in ODST, who, is also dead(?) Romeo? was it? Anyway, to answer your question, I’m sure there are black people that play Halo, though, few in comparison to COD.
