Do armor upgrade actually do anything?

I could swear that people with loaded up armor are actually harder to kill in FFA. Is this my mind playing tricks or is there any truth to this?

I’m closing in on Field Marshall and I haven’t bought any armor in a longtime(I’m at 49%). I’ve been saving up for the inclimate weather effect because it is by far the most enticing to me. I have over 1.9 Million credits, if the armor actually makes a difference, I’d spend my credits on that before the effect, which apparently is purely for looks.

Armor is for appearance only. It doesn’t give any kind of a boost.

So having bigger armor is actually a bad thing? As it gives more shootable area for an opponent to hit, correct?

No, hitboxes are the same size regardless of what armour you are wearing.

no im pretty sure the hitboxes get bigger if your armor is bigger

> no im pretty sure the hitboxes get bigger if your armor is bigger

Nope, ALL hitboxes are the same. It doesn’t matter what armor you’re using or if you’re playing as a male or female

well with the robot arm the hit boxes are made smaller

Bungie made it pretty clear that any armor changes were purely aesthetic. Unless there is some sort of evidence against this, I’m going to go ahead and keep believing them.

Not with me but get a friend who has robo arm and shoot the arm. you’ll notice that several times the bullet will just go threw

So big shoulder armor wont block headshots from the side?

> So big shoulder armor wont block headshots from the side?

Nope. Just looks cool in some cases.

The official story is that how the game calculates a hit or damage is the same, but obviously, the bigger you are the easier you are to see. I love it when someone has a really bright helmet, since it makes it easier to find them!

On the other hand, I personally think my choice of light armor is the reason for all the times I put an AR burst into someone and we double-punch each other, and I’m the only one who dies…

good to know, thanks everyone!

Yeah some armors go along way to exposing you to sight from long distance. Like that bug helmet of Emiles, a nice big ‘shoot this’ sign on that.

Though that one Elite set is amusingly deceptive for Snipers, too many people take a shot at that black part and completely miss out on a headshot.

I’d actually like to see the Armors cause some cosmetic changes. The Main thing i’m thinking of are hud variants for each helmet. I want my ODST style visor back from ODST.

I dont know, i think there might actually be something to this armor thing. I find people with the inclemint weather armor ability are much harder to headshot (Swat) and that people with the eod helmet are nearly impossible in a snipers match. THis may just be me lagging, but i think ive only rarely gotten a headshot medal for shooting someone with eod in team snipers. I think the that beside the obvious skill that got them that for to be able to afford inclemint weather, i think that permutation actually bends bullets ina matter of speaking, because they are very hard to kill, and impossible to headshot if they have large shoulders and a tiny helmet… JUst speculation mind you. And it may be obvious skill as well (the inclement weather people) because ive got some kills in swat that many would deem impossible…

I will say this: in Halo 3 you could stick a players Katana if he was wearing one.

I like to think they have a benefit other then being pretty, but probably not. To me, I think that it makes your shield deplete slower, but probably not.

Spartan hitboxes are all the same, there’s no real reason they wouldn’t be. Heck, it’s easier to program it that way, too.

I have noticed that inclement weather does make people way easier to spot sometimes.

I’m actually not going to lie. I’ve been in a couple situations where I’ve unloaded an entire clip directly into a SPARTAN, no misses, and his shield will pop. I’m going to assume it was the range, because if not, then the Armor Effects actually cause defensive upgrades.

Believe me, Armour Effects have no, NO effect on a persons hitbox, damage resistance or anything to the like.

They are a completely aesthetic addition that is only to further expand on character customization.

On another note, I have Pestilence. I like it.
