I just don’t get it. I’ve been playing halo since Halo 2 and this is the first halo game I genuinely can not play.
Even Halo 5 I could hold my own and lead the team in kills, but in Infinite I didn’t go positive one game and a lot of times I was going 2/15 or something without any idea how I died before it happened.
is this just me? Am I just not a modern gamer and stuck in the old slower arena world or is this a problem for other Halo players. Because now both flights playing against other people I’ve gotten so upset I don’t even want to touch this game anymore. Like who wants to get their -Yoink- handed to them every game after dominating halo matches for over a decade? It’s demoralizing
It is pretty difficult to aim. The game is matching on skill (loosely) from what I can tell too, so if you played before and played bot arena then you’ll be playing better players. I’ve checked a few players profiles and they were Onyx players that I was matched against.
The aim assist and bullet magnetism is either as low as CE or lower. halo 2/2A/3/reach/4 all have much higher aim assist and bullet magnetism(the sniper in h3 is pretty low though). Infinite just needs practice. if youre a veteran halo player who was average or slightly above average in previous titles, infinite will be really hard at first. Dont be demoralized just practice. This game has a much higher skill ceiling in its gunplay for the most part so people who played halo for awhile are not just going to start shredding insantly unless they are literal semi pro or pro level.
infinite has higher strafe acceleration, which means your spartan reacts faster to changing movement direction. this makes it a lot easier to dodge attacks and in turn, harder to aim. there’s also some weapon balancing issues imo.
it’s a lot to get used to but i’m sure it’s also possible you just had a few bad matches.
Idk I just don’t want waste time on a game that makes me upset and I can’t even have the slightest bit of fun with because I’m getting 2 kills 1 medal a game and dying 7/8x that. I just can’t understand how I actually suck at a halo game.
I’ve only been playing since 2007-2008, so I guess I’m from the OG era of Halo games near the end, but not quite an OG player since I loathed playing PvP modes back then. I used to go negative a lot back in the days of 3 and Reach, and even 4 I struggled quite a bit, but today, I played several games of Bots and one of actual vs Players. The Bots games I won’t count cause bots are easy to beat, but the one vs Player game I played I went positive 14/12 and I was second place on our team (we lost anyway, it happens).
Even on MCC I can sometimes either floor the enemy teams or get floored, it’s not too common we’re neck and neck. My guess? You’re just having a bad day, happens to me sometimes on Overwatch. Maybe take a break, grab something to eat, whatever you do to calm down a bit, then come back, maybe it’ll be different for you.

RIGHT! I’m done this week. I’ll try again next week and see if I can compete in BTB setting, but if all I’m getting is angry at a game I’m not gonna waste my time.
I’ll play campaign when it’s out and move back to MCC. I’m just a relic of the past at this point now
I’m still doing well and going positive/top of the leaderboard.
TTK is too fast. You can’t outplay/outmaneuver someone because as soon as you get shoot you are dead. I am really good at previous Halos and most FPS in general. Something feels off.
Also Commando is lackluster, Melee feels off and Commando has too much range and high fire rate.

I don’t think so unfortunately. I had the same luck when they opened the last flight to PvP. I just can’t compete with the speed of the game. Especially with how quickly you can die in this game compared to games of old.
Its the aim assist it needs tweaking, my reticle goes everywhere. I will say Ive found varrying success with maxing out “look” deadzones. But the overall aim assist desperately needs a rework.

YES! By the time I’m getting shot I have no reaction time to turn, toss a nade on the wall, and fire back like old halo games.
Honestly how quickly you can go down it feels like a call of duty, which I guess would be fine if I could kill people as easily as I can in call of duty
I struggled the first flight, but I’m getting into a rhythm this time around. Not sure what the difference is. But, by the rings, I am enjoying this game.
The Training Mode may have helped. I hopped in there for a few hours, started a comp stomp and gradually raised the difficulty as I got comfortable.

My experience against players in this flight has been pretty abysmal. The gamepad aim assist doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything, so I’m stuck between having low sensitivity in trying to compensate for corrects, which means I can’t turn around fast enough and it’s gotten me killed countless times. Or I ramp up the sensitivity and can’t aim or melee on-target anyway, but at least I can see my death coming from behind.
I’ve never had this issue in CE, 2, 3, ODST, or Reach.

I’m happy for you, wish I could say the same
it’s sad because I want to enjoy this game so bad. I love playing Halo. It’s the only video game I play nowadays and I just can’t get the feel of it and it’s disheartening
