It’s a very hard decision how to implement the ban hammer because of the very fact that you can’t tell if someone pulls the plug to quit a game. It involves personal integrity at this point. You lie about it when everyone on this forum can see your record. I have about 8 DNF’s out of 37 games I’ve played so far (extreme rookie) and half were my fault for hitting the menu button at the same time as X button (adrenalin rush). 4 of those were from 343 servers going down per the message I got on the screen from 343. But I still got a DNF when it was their servers they need to fix this. As I’ve learned if you accidently hit the menu button, hit the menu button again to go back to the game and not the B for back, that throws you out of the game and the good o’l DNF comes up. I learned that the hard way because there is no help for new players to explain anything.
Banning solves nothing man, it doesn’t actually resolve the reason why people quit and it won’t deter people from quitting.
Your dead right! Thanks for response.
I’m a retired programmer annalist and in my opinion it’s a very difficult problem to code to get the proper results. There are so many variables to the problem it’s a tough one. But when it so blatantly ridiculous that they can’t tell when someone quits or its their servers that cause someone to get their DNF then it goes to incompetent. They keylog your controller to get the demographics so you know how many shots you fired and how many people you killed, but when the logic and algorithms are not thought out on all levels you have failure. The same goes when matchmaking a game that is grossly mismatched.
I agree that they need to fix the cause of the problem…
Punishing people for quitting will do nothing if they leave because they’re not having fun for whatever reason…
You can’t force people to be in a situation they don’t want to be in
Kind of how you can’t force party chat users to use game chat despite party chat being bad for the team if everyone else is in game chat.
Both situations are the same

Exactly… There really has to be a DNF in place, but this one has not been well thought out. It’s more complex than just acing players for something that’s not their fault.
Its true in fact just because they get banned doesn’t mean they won’t quit again. They might even quit the whole game all together instead of waiting to play a -Yoink- match made game to then quit if your getting destroyed, team mates are useless, servers acting up etc.
In reality I still see quitters even at the beginning of matches and in between so using this strategy of banning someone for being negative towards the team won’t result in anything. They obviously don’t give a -Yoink- in the end.
Mmmmmmmm needed the DNF is.
I can’t see why anyone would quit, you take the good and the bad, we don’t always win… hello…! Good point SilverEonBullet…Personally it has flaws that could be reconciled without much difficulty… but until that happens, if it does I’m not going to worry about it, I still have a great time Playing even though I suck at aiming. I won’t even attempt going into Arena. Warzone for someone my age is great, even though I get slaughtered. It’s still fun for me because I’m not so competitive that it makes a difference. I play to just have fun. If I get a saw or a ghost or even a tank and get one kill I’m having fun. Even though it won’t last long its still fun.
Banning solves a lot actually, just read some of the posts in these forums of people crying “my connection dropped once and I was banned for a day! Banhammer failed, remove it!” When they are repeat quitters once you look into their service record.

Perhaps you’re better thinking on how to have them not quit… seriously, this solves nothing, and I have DNF’d a lot recently (more often than not, either I am losing by a mile on a team where nearly three others have left in Warzone or the Arena match is so one sided I just want to throw my hands up and say “beat me, I give up” but there is no button for surrendering the match…
That said, a lot of people complain when they can’t play for a few hours… I find it odd… don’t you have a life guys? Other games? I DNF’d knowing full well what’d happen and decided to take the risk, so I won’t complaint on here just because of something that happened. I just feel there’s a flaw in this…

Trust me when I tell you Arena is easier. I might be returning after having skipped Reach and not played the MCC until rather recently, but I am pretty sure it’s friendlier on new players than Warzone where one team can score a landslide win… I suggest Breakout (unlike SWATnum, you can actually spray your enemies to death with an SMG) since it’s an easy way to score kills fast and good for those that have little time to play…

They are just going to complain and keep quitting don’t think that solves anything you just end up with someone whining.
You admit to quitting because the game is hard and you blame the game for it. When you get yourself banned, please remember your post here.
Banning isn’t the way to go about keeping people from quitting. We need an actual punishment, not a simple slap on the wrists. That way if you really want to quit(which I’ll admit that I’ve done a lot. Swat spawns speak for themselves I think) you’ll actually lose something. I know another game(LoL I think) had it so that if you quit you can’t play until that match finished. That’d work well if implemented alongside something such as exp/RP deductions and an instant loss. But first the servers need to be fixed because while I have quit before, I’ve also had my fair share if disconnects(especially recently). No need to punish people who didn’t actually quit.

Your right Lou Keymia… I don’t think it’s right to quit under any circumstance, if your team is losing hang in there and play harder. I played a game the other day and 6 people quit half way through the game. But what I look at is this… did they quit or were they kicked out of the game for server overload. We don’t know. The Ban Hammer definitely needs to be there. It just needs to be adjusted so the ones that got thrown out of the game don’t get a DNF when they didn’t want to leave the game. It’s happened to me quite a few times and I don’t quit a game that I’m having a blast playing.

Thanks AsGryffynn I’ll have to try Arena again. I’m trying adjusting my control to get my aim better because I suck.
How about joining a spartan company? Has anyone joined on? I’m curious, I have an invite from one, it seems that maybe if I join I would be with players that are team oriented rather than playing solo.
Well put mate, and its not even a new problem either.

Maybe you should re-read what was posted… It was a mistake for hitting the menu button at the same time as the X button which are next to each other. When I realized what I had obviously done I corrected it. I never intentionally quit. I’ve never played a game online before. Sorry if it wasn’t clear enough.
