from what I have seen of the DMR and Carbine footage, I would say that the BR will not be the weapon of choice for most players in halo 4. Unless between now and launch the BRs damage increases, I don’t see it being a widely picked weapon in MM. I see most players likely picking up the DMR again. In my opinion though, the DMR just seems overall more powerful and dangerous(especially when you hear its sound vs the BRs). I will probably use the carbine though, it will secondary. This is just my opinion, what does the community think about this?
A lot of what we have seen has been changed. They’ve already announced that the Carbine was toned down. I’m sure that changes have been made to the BR and DMR as well.
People will use the BR for nostalgia when the game first drops, but they’ll soon flock to the DMR/Carbine solely because of the faster kill times.
I had a friend play at PAX and he told me the DMR is quite easy to use at close range making it far too versatile and essentially making the BR obsolete.
God, I hope they make the BR a 4 shot.
Currently(and when I say currently I mean what we have seen or hear. What 343 has done since then is anyone’s guess) the DMR and Carbine seem to outclass the BR.
Despite the varying numbers floating around for the killtimes all the breakdowns I have seen clearly put the DMR and Carbine a good a good chunk. That is not to say I want the BR to be the only viable choice, I just want it to be competitive with the other weapons.
Eh, i am going to be using BR anyways (nostalgia or no). I prefer burst weapons and while the DMR is effective, i find it boring to use at times.
Most likely use it on bigger maps though.
Assault rifle for the win, and pistol.
DMR FTW

If they don’t fix the BR in halo 4, I honestly don’t see it coming back in Halo 5. It should be competitive, I think one thing that hinders its competitiveness primarily is the fact that its a burst fire weapon. If not all your rounds hit the target(your burst splinters and only one or two bullets hit the target), the DMR and Carbine will beat you.

Everyone has been saying the BR is hitscan.
I got to say the BR is going to be my first choice as its what ive become custom to, however i do see myself swapping to the Dmr and carbine as they both look devastating.

It is, but that doesn’t mean that the burst can’t splinter. The Halo 2 BR was hit scan and could splinter.
I hope they fix the BR or I’ll have to pick the dmr and that won’t be nearly as fun.

BR fo lief
OT: I’ll be using the BR anyway. I don’t care about kill times lol.
I’ll probably be using a BR/DMR combo, so that way I can switch when needed. Unless another weapon catches my eye, at the least.
Ughh, I am so sick of these “BR needs to be 4sk or it wont stand a chance against other gunzz!!” topics. (or topics in disguise that leads to the aforementioned.)From what I’ve seen, there is no absolute fact that either is better than the other, other than forum goers having “counted frame-rates” of videos in which they were both being fired. Which is a variable in itself seeing as;
A) Everyone to do so likely came out with different (Though possibly similar) numbers.
And B) Without having played it yet, you cannot say that the player in video A with the BR is shooting at the same pace as the player in video B with the DMR and so forth.
I honestly think 4SK BR will just be OP, and that people who WANT it to be 4SK Want it to be OP (Out of Nostalgia) So unless we’re talking about 100& perfect accurate head shots (all 12 bullets from the bursts of the BR) are hitting someone in the head, not 3 to the body and 9 to the head, or even 11 to the head while one spread just out of reach, but perfect 12 to the head. Then maybe that would be more balanced.
It wouldn’t be OP, its kill time would be aligned with the other starting precision weapons. Why is that so hard to understand…
All we want is balance, a 5sk BR will be rendered useless once everyone becomes familiarized with the game and chooses the ‘best’ weapons. That isn’t balanced.
I thought both the DMR and BR took 5 trigger pulls to kill.
I’m gonna use the carbine anyways…
Don’t use the RTX and E3 footages as proof. They’re out of date with the current builds.
Feel free to use it as a point though!
> I thought both the DMR and BR took 5 trigger pulls to kill.
They do. However, the BR’s supposed to be slightly faster than the DMR, which didn’t happen in the E3/RTX build of the Halo 4 multiplayer.
As long as the BR stays 5 shot, the DMR will beat it at any range.
