What about a BR that you can toggle semi with burst…and with semi you can shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger…
anyone?
that would cause some ammunition and damage problems…

And yet it works in Crysis and Battle Field games. Ammunition is easy, right now in Halo 3, when you fire the BR, it fires off a 3 round burst, Semi (AKA single shot) fires one round every trigger squeeze, R3ap3r, something tells me that you’re not that good at math.
As for damage, semi and burst is the same, like I said before, Burst = 3 rounds per trigger squeeze, Semi = 1 Round per trigger squeeze. If you have it set on burst, it fires 3 rounds which hit your target, cause damage each time a round hits it’s target.
The main difference between semi and burst is, burst isn’t has controlled as semi, with the weapon recoiling from each round being fired it can cause the gun to “jump” up, each time a round is fired the more it goes up. Semi, you have more control ever the weapon, so you can fire a round, take the recoil, aim, fire, and you’ll hit your mark every time. Burst is great for med range to close range, long range burst fire goes from you hitting your mark with all three rounds, to hitting your mark with one or two rounds each time, 3 if you’re really lucky. Semi is great for long ranged shooting.
All in all, your post R3ap3r, is wrong.
No, it would be like carrying a BR and a Carbine. It complexifies one weapon and deletes another.

So, change up the carbine, change it’s rate of fire, or give it more damage per shot.
And basic the Carbine is the covie’s version of the BR, so it doesn’t really delete one weapon.
Who will pick up a Carbine if their BR has one built in?
No. If you shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger i see a problem. Rapid fire.
Also, im sure O’Connor wouldn’t like to ditch the carbine …
sorta like the kh2002 from bf3?
No offense, but forget BRs. those things have caused me nothing but misery in both Halo 2 and 3. You really can’t get more accuracy from a DMR in my opinion, and yet because of the BR I was even hesitant at 1st to even consider using the DMR. However I got pretty good with it once I got used it to it. The only thing that throws me off now is when they decided to change up the assault rifle as the starting weapon for some playlists and DMR second because once that change was made, a lot of people just rode that wave again and stuck to the assault rifle as their main mode of attack. Sometimes it’s hard to determine which of the 2 will be the bigger winner in my opinion when it suddenly becomes assault rifle vs dmr in battle.

It’s all in the range.
it’s not really so much that, but it’s because i’m pretty good with both. So once you adjust to 1 it kinda makes you have to re-adjust to the other all over again, depending which is the primrary andsecondary and which 1 everyone is primareily attacking with.

not many people pick up the carbine over the BR because of its ease of use anyways, how about 343i get creative rather than make every human weapon have an alien counter part.
thanks for the input guys just a suggestion
in-canon, thats actually how it works
Why not make it like the Halo 2 demo BR?
Zoomed in= one-shot
Zoomed out= 3-shot
