DMR / rifles as drops instead of starting?

I’d prefer to have a DMR (and the other precision weapons) as a drop instead of a starter weapon. It seems as though a majority of players just purely use precision rifles as the only weapon in the match and ignore others (such as the AR, SR, etc).

Back in the yonder days of Halo CE, the startout weapons were an assault rifle and a plasma pistol (usually). Sure, the pistol was on the map but it was a weapon you had to pick up in certain gametypes. This made the matches feel more action-packed and fun, seeing many players using a variety of weapons to kill their enemies, not just shoot each other from afar with precision weapons constantly. Someone shooting an AR at a guy, while seeing the bolts of a plasma rifle firing at you…just pure fun for me.

I’m not saying I don’t start out with precision rifles in matches as well, but perhaps they could make a gametype or list that doesn’t allow them as a starter? Just my opinion at least.

I doubt that’ll happen b/c almost everyone, who plays BTB, to be specific wants Precision Weapons.

only way you’ll get that is in a play list that doesn’t allow load outs, DMR is wired in as a load out weapon so they can’t really change it, and even if they could they’d just piss off a bunch of people.

Let’s work on getting the PP and PG out of the picture before we do anything else.

Don’t even know where to begin.

I could start with Halo Ce predominantly using AR+Magnum starts. I could start with the fundamental differences between Halo CE weapon variety and Halo 4 weapon variety that promote the use of the entire sandbox. I could start by saying how boring AR Spamfests end up being.

I’m just at a loss.

if rifles were drops, id end up picking one up and just kill you 10 times and camp at a distance. Then you wont want them as a drop anymore.

The funny thing I I’d rather have a DMR than what my OD offers me. It’s actually so bad that I put it on the field and just give it away. It’s so bad that 5 minutes later and no ones took it I end up taking it any way cause I’m out of ammo.

In terms of whether they are starting weapons, pick ups or whatever,as long as the BR/DMR are treated equally, I’m OK.

Therefore, if it is about load-outs, then both BR/DMR must be load-outs. If it is about pickups, then both the BR/DMR must be pick ups and so forth.
