Am I the only one? I’ve gotten 9 kills with it. It’s okay, but meh. Why does everyone see it as a gun-god?

For me its the only gun that has that familar feel and sound to it from prior games. Specifically H4. I can no scope easily much easier than I can with the BR and pistol.
Sentinel BR is better for some people. DMR appears to make headshots easier somehow, though. I suck at the game but I can get actually get headshots with the DMR sometimes.
It’s like a pistol on steroids. What’s not to like…although I haven’t gotten one yet and I’m lVl 50 lol RNGesus op.
I like the DMR, but I’ll always choose BR over it.
I feel like you can spray the BR and do well, but spray with the DMR and you’ll hit nothing but air. And for long range, I can’t hit anything with it.
I wish it was in SWAT so I could get a feel for it. In BTB, I always see it left behind, then come on the forums and everyone is madly in love with it. Just trying to understand that.
A lot of us fell in love with its classic more marksman oreinted playstyle and feel, back in reach when it first came out. also since reach had no br it was your primere choice for a precision weapon.
Personally I love it in reach and 4 but in this game I feel like it isn’t what it used to be. it seems more like a support rifle than a killer in this one. could be the fact it is easyly outdone by other guns in this new installment but it doesn’t feel the same not sure why either. still can’t go wrong with it on the other two games though.

Same on the familiarity. I love the DMR. It’s my go-to in BTB (because that’s the only place I can get it…)

Well It was horrendously overpowered in halo 4 (Before the big patch)
I like it a lot in halo 5, Its very good at long range and outclassed at close range, as it should be.

Spraying with a DMR goes against its designed use. It’s a precision weapon that fires one high impact round at a time. There is a fine rhythm to working the DMR and when you are on with it, the gun is fantastic. When you are off with it though… it can be super frustrating.
Really seems to depend on your quality of connection to the game.

It’s a little OP (very little) in my opinion. High damage and low recoil. And anytime you got it in the storymode everything was easy. Ammo was sparse though and does have close ranges issues.

Recoil is so minimal its easy to correct the aim
Not seeing what you’re seeing at all. LOVE me some DMR. Will always pick it up when available.
Everyone leaves it alone on the Empire map for the most part. So we are either all doing it wrong or the map is too small to support it properly.

Exact same boat as you.
I think that the Halo Reach DMR was more fun. The higher amount of bloom really made the gun use a large amount of skill-you had to factor in the bloom rate to efficiently make shots. It really took more skill.
In Reach, I loved it. I’m a mid-range shooter and get a lot of kills via headshot, so I gravitate towards BR/DMR/Pistol. I love both the BR and Pistol in H5, but I feel the DMR is too slow (rate of fire) or doesn’t do enough damage on head-shots.
DMR outperforms BR in long range. BR out performs DMR close to medium range. /thread
