DMR: Keep it, Trash it, or Fix it

This thread is concerning the DMR.

Keep but it shouldn’t be a spawn weapon.

Fix it and then bring in a covenant weapon to rival it

keep it, allow it to be the inbetween between the br and the sniper. Smaller reticle, faster killing time, better distance. Its better by a tiny bit but just balance it between the br and the sniper somehow and put it back on the map and give us a reason to pick it up. Picking things up is halo metagame and part of the fun.

Damn guys, you give me a headache. The DMR is fine, it has a killtime of 1.6 seconds, that’s not too fast. The other weapons are just -Yoink-…

Reach DMR seemed quite balanced, IMO. 343 created a monster, and now it must be fixed.

The problem is the range, accuracy and bullet magnetism. Not its killtime.

1.4 for the dmr and 1.7 for the br. The dmr shoots 6 times for the brs 5 and it has a better scope. Its clearly the superior weapon ontop of the fact that there is no spread. The br is consistent up to 90m but the scope and player mid match isint shooting 50m so who cares. The dmr should be the in between human rifle between the br and the sniper. better range, rifle, not a sniper.

^ This. Use the Carbine and you’ll agree the DMR is too good.

This, and remove the loadout system.
Or Make it less acurate and have les range, 2x zoom instead of 3x

The BR is just too weak, it’s not consistent since it has bullet spread, the recoil is also not necessary. The bad maps also promote the use of the DMR.
If the BR didn’t have recoil and bullet spread and if we also had smaller maps no one would complain about the DMR.

I voted fix it and make it an ordinance drop same with BR and AR -_- while being rid of all the power weapons and power up ins ordinance.

It needs ot be either fixed, or the rest of the armory should match it

yes but the spread is as consistent as the person aiming is by about 95% of the time. Because each bullet fires individually if your aimer is all over the place your going to miss a lot of bullets and your shooting 3 at a time.

I voted for trash it and here’s why. We have 4 precision weapons in this game, 2 UNSC, 1 covenant and 1 promethian.

Why do we need two UNSC weapons?

The light rifle is right in the middle between a mid range weapon and sniper rifle so it already fills the role that the DMR was supposed to but it has it’s down sides (low rate of fire, harder to aim with, scope moves a lot more when shot etc).

The carbine is a great mid range precision weapon with a high rate of fire for those that prefer that style of play, but has it’s weaknesses at long and shorter ranges.

The battle rifle is also a great mid range precision weapon with a unique three round burst that fires more slowly then the carbine but faster then the light rifle and also has multiple weaknesses.

So if we have a 3 precision weapons to choose from (1 from each race) that fill the roles of there intended use, why do we need a 4th?

Also by removing the DMR we take a giant leap forward with balancing the game (seriously who wants a DMR as an orbital drop, lame).

It needs fixing, it’s too OP, seriously…

There are only two acceptable things to do to balance the DMR in my opinion:

  1. Reduce the maximum red-reticle-range to ~90m. This makes it on par with the Light Rifle.
  2. Buff the other weapons enough to make them excel more in their specific ranges.

There’s also a third option, but I don’t really consider it feasible as it directly goes against a major design principle for this game, and that would be to return “de-scoping” in place of flinch.

The reticle is not even on the player or lit up red and it still kills them.
