THOSE ARE ORDNANCE DROPS. They are meant to be powerful and give the user an edge. The DMR however, is a loadout weapon. And, in my opinion, is too effective to be a loadout weapon.
Halo 4, as of now, is a repeat of the reach DMR takeover. The DMR was meant to replace the BR; do to the difficulty in giving a semi-automatic rifle bloom. Now that they decided to do away with bloom; (excluding the pistol) the DMR should not have been in Halo 4 at all. The fact is, the only reason the DMR was included was to please the DMR fanboys. Being that if you were “good” in reach, you were “good” with the DMR. Reach has a horribly balanced multiplayer, and it’s trickling down to Halo 4.
They’ll fix it, because a blind man can see that the only people defending the DMR are the DMR abusers. They fear their “almighty” rifle will be taken away or weakened. But in the name of balance, it should be. And mark my words, it will be.

Players will use what is most efficient at killing, and limits their abilities as a player the least. It is not the DMR’s fault the BR and Carbine suck.
DMR full-timer chiming in to say: Only Rambo style players who can’t aim are really complaining about this one. I use it at all ranges, it does indeed have it’s disadvantages. If you play each weapon the way it is intended you will find it’s strengths. If you charge out into the open and get picked off by a DMR all I can say is LEARN!
DMR is just fine. Do I smell BR fanboyism going on here?
Before screaming OMG its overpowered and all that, theres these optimal efficency ranges for max dmg for each of the main human weapons.
AR - Short range
BR - medium range
DMR - long range
I admit that I use DMR alot, kinda in spite of the large amount of fans using BR. Also I prefer to test my skill at longer ranges. Though I try to adapt, depending on map. Ragnarok screams for long range weapons. Smaller maps are more suitable for the BR/AR which I think both kick -Yoink- this time around.
> Players will use what is most efficient at killing, and limits their abilities as a player the least. It is not the DMR’s fault the BR and Carbine suck.
Jesus, have you ever played a game where balance is important. This is the stupidest thing I ever read. Can’t tell if you saying leave everything the way it is, or buff BR and Carbine.
This is the way it should really be, buff carbine, leave BR as it is, and nerf DMR. That’s balance!
> The link in my signature is very relevant to this.
I think everyone and their dog predicted these threads. The DMR, in it’s essence, has no place in halo. I knew the moment they decided to include it, that they would get rid of the bloom, THE ONE THING that kept it under control is gone. As of now the ONLY WAYs to be are as fallows; Have a buff or ordnance, get close and use a automatic rifle, light rifle scoped(only effective a long distances), That is it. And BTW, the carbine got nerfed BIG TIME. Say hello to DMR close range nerf. BECAUSE NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING BEATS IT MID RANGE when it comes to the loadouts.

This is the post in the thread containing the most wisdom!
All you BR and AR freaks need to consider the first rule of battle (with apologies to Gen Patton) - “you don’t win by dying, you win by making some poor -Yoink- on the opposing team die.”
Don’t just steam in fer Chrissakes. Use the map, use the contours, use cover, use anything you damn well can but stay alive!
Check the stats at games-end - very few people have an average lifespan over 1 minute.
Very poor indeed.

yeah, it’s called taking advantage of a poorly balanced game. Players have done it for ages. It doesn’t excuse the obvious problem. If 343i is serious about making a balanced competitive game, and I THINK they are, they’ll either buff everything (GOW 2) , or just nerf the DMR. Hmmmmmmm, what takes less work and is 5 times easier.
You don’t use it because you suck at it not because you just refuse to use it. I’ve died from many more weapons than the dmr. I use the carbine sometimes just fine.

Yes, accept the problem and compensate for it. Great wisdom indeed. It kills in 1.6 sec at 100 yards away, and it kills in 1.6 sec 5 yards away. That is the problem. The bloom lowered it’s long range kill time AND it’s close range consistency/prowess/kill time. they let the DMR off it’s leash, and the REACH-HEADS LOVE IT.

As is yours. You don’t make a very convincing argument when you try to attack another person for using the DMR the most when you also use the DMR the most.

This would be more accurate.
Automatic weapons/DMR - Short range
BR/Carbine/DMR - Mid Range
Light Rifle/DMR - Long range
Just looking at my own stats says alot. I load out with a BR, and I have died 102 times to the BR. I have died over twice this to the DMR. What does this tell me. That when I go BR vs DMR, I am twice as likely to die than if I go BR vs BR

Yeah, but I’m not defending it.
I play competitively with friend and foe alike. NOT USING THE DMR is HANDICAPPING yourself. AND that’s the problem. 4/5 players use the DMR most.

With the aim assist, bullet magnetism, hit confirm… Its almost abnormal to suck with the DMR.
