I mainly use BR, but I will switch to DMR for certain maps/gametypes. I do notice that it is a LOT easier to land shots, and all you need to do up close is spam the trigger and let auto aim do the rest. It’s to the point I’m considering just using DMR because it’s clearly superior.

The amount of aim assist in CE isn’t anywhere close to the amount in Halo 2, and right now the DMR feels like it has even more aim assist than the H2 BR did. It’s definitely a big deal when the utility weapon is easy enough to use that even someone who isn’t that good can consistently 5 shot with it.

Because I suck compared to the vast majority of the people I’ve been matched with.
> I too refuse to use the DMR, it’s way too consistent across ALL -Yoink!- ranges.
What kind of ‘logic’ is this…
Surely if its the better weapon and you can use it efficiently then you would just use it? This proves only morons want the DMR nerfed…
i seem to be doing good with a BR in medium-short maps and a a DMR medium-long maps, i don’t see it being over powered.
you kids obviously dontknow what your talking about when you say dmr doesnt have bloom. it does idiots.
The DMR is a fantastic weapon. But too many people here are blaming the gun (an easy target) instead of the real issue which is movement speed and aim assist.
Up movment speed to 110, remove movment acceleration (that slight pause when you strafe back and forth)
lower aim assist and BOOM
We have the best Halo since CE, heck maybe even better than CE. Add non exploitable skill based ranks and H4 is the best halo ever.
But really, it isn’t the DMR’s fault. Its auto aim and movement speed.

Really? And your logic isn’t any less moronic? You are pretty much saying the DMR is the best loadout weapon when they are SUPPOSED to be balanced. People pick the other loadout guns due to personal preference, why should they be punished for it?

quoted for fail
I think I agree with tsassi (almost completely) You get a +1 for that.
ya i know right who wants to use a gun that works well.
I probably know to make the DMR balanced
- Increase zoom farther than the light rifle a little bit
(The reason why is that if you increase the zoom for the DMR, it will suck for close to medium range to accurately land shots.

Wow, that’s a great post. I think the decreased aim assist might also have to do with the decreased movement speed from game to game, but it’s still interesting to see that halo CE actually had quite a bit of aim assist in it.
As far as this whole DMR argument goes, I don’t understand why people want the dmr to be bad in certain situations instead of all-around good. It’s like people want halo to be a rock-paper-scissors game where dmr > br in some situtations and br > dmr in others. I hate rock paper scissors gameplay. I want to beat someone because I outplayed them, not because I had a better weapon than them for the given situation.
First, you complain about bloom. So they got rid of it. Now the DMR is a minisniper which can be spammed with little to no consequence. Wow! Maybe bloom was what nerfed it!
You brought this on yourself, Waypoint.
Sorry for any typos, I’m on my phone.
It’s all down to preference really, I prefer to use the DMR in most cases but that’s just down to me disliking burst fire. In my opinion if you’re dueling someone with a BR close quarters you’re more likely to lose unless they’re a really bad shot.
I don’t even see the problem here, obviously using the DMR over the BR on a map like Ragnarok where you’re a lot more spread out is gonna give you an advantage because that’s how it’s supposed to be. The DMR is a mid to long range weapon, unlike the BR which, as I said, is better than the DMR in close quarters unless you choke and waste half your clip missing shots.
br and carbine especially can beat dmr mmid to close and lr can beat the dmr far away…also the dmr can beat the dmr
this is less a weapon issue and more a player issue …im going back to play now
Yes, the DMR is powerful, at distance.
If I’m in CQC, I always bust out my assault rifle and kill the guy, regardless of BR, DMR or Carbine; and regardless of whether or not they got the first shot in.
It seems fairly balanced to me. The DMR is a long range weapon, but it’s not so great close up (seems like a lack of aim assist). BR and DMR are close-to-mid, of course you won’t win. I guess just strafe more.

Bloom was what ruined it. ZBNS was the most fun I could possibly have in Reach.
The bloom is just enough so you can’t just spam it cross map.
Pistol being OP in CE is fine.
BR (which is on the level of the Halo 4 DMR) being OP in Halo 2/3 is fine.
DMR being OP in Reach is fine.
DMR being OP in Halo 4 is… Bad?
Yeah, no. We haven’t had a Halo game where players haven’t been able to quickly kill each other across the map off of spawn. At least the DMR doesn’t have random spread like the Halo 3 BR and is a very consistent weapon. It’s the most similar weapon to the Halo 1 pistol we’ve had since the Reach TU and NB DMR. As far as I’m concerned, the BR shouldn’t have even been brought back since it has no real, distinct role, and the Carbine should get a buff.

Breaking news: “Ruined” is now synonymous with “made”.
Seriously you guys, H4 is the most balanced Halo since CE, if not ever. Are you really going to try to tell me the Pistol didn’t dominate everything put power weapons in CE, Or that the BR didn’t dominate everything but power weapons in H2 and H3, same for Reach. THAT IS HALO. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT DON’T PLAY HALO.
People just need to improve really. You only get completely -Yoinked!- by someone with a DMR in close quarters combat if you choke up and spam your shots instead of taking the time to place them properly.
