Yup, another DMR thread. It’s almost 6 months, still DMR is unbalanced. Boltshot took it’s nerfing with second TU (imo not enough, but still) but DMR is still noob-friendly all-powerful weapon. I’m finishing my Mastery Condemnations with Suppressor and Light Rifle, but when I’m losing, still, I’m picking up DMR. Still, aiming to enemy’s direction and taking 5 to 7-8 shots. No matter what the map is or if there’s 6 or 16 players on it. Any environment, any range.
Want to play hardcore? Ok, I’m picking DMR and you’re picking anything else.
Well, THAT IS WRONG!
Really, Almighty-Matchmaking-Moderator, last TU gave you ability to adjust weapon’s characteristics in no time. It’s about time to use it!
Most shooters have that one to go to gun buddy. Halo isn’t any different by a long shot. Before Reach and Halo 4, it was the BR. Ce, it was the pistol.
Get over it.

True about past Halo’s, but it still should be nerfed, at least a little.
When I read the title the only thing I could think of, is those crazy old church ladies who claim rock music is from the devil.

You couldn’t be more wrong. I have 90,000 gamerscore, nearly 200 games on the xbox, that doesn’t include my pc games, I’m telling you that not every game focus’s on one gun except in my maybe gears of war but at least in that game people aren’t afraid to try different weapons while Halo 4 close range/medium/long range people spam the dmr like it’s going out of fashion.

HALO has always been focused around 1 utility weapon that could be used at all ranges. The pistol, the BR and then the DMR.

The only change that the DMR should go through is that every scoped weapon should get unscoped when shot. It makes long range shooting too easy. Other than that the DMR is fine. All rifles(not including snipers) have the same amount of magnetism and aim assist when unscoped. Only the dmr and light rifle gain a boost in bullet magnetism when scoped, but if you could get unscoped when shot that would balance this.

Except 343i said that before Halo 4 came out they wanted there to be balance this time. They did not want this to be a one-gun game again. The DMR in its current state works against that.

Unless your playing nothing but MLG that was never the case, I have played countless games and the pistol, dmr heavly only started showing up more around halo reach because they got more of a boost in accuracy, the dmr was overpowered to the point where it was frequently spammed for everything… The br was used often sometimes but at the end of day a lot more people seemed to switch their weapons from brutes spikes to the classic halo assault rifles, people spamming with the pistol was never common until halo reach/odst and I know pretty well since I have probably clocked more hours into all the halo guys than most people in the halo forums. Some people might play sniper only custom games but that’s not the same situation when it comes to matchmaking and now everyone is using the dmr more often because it’s a loadout which now gives people OP weapons on spawn to stop people from learning to adapt, improve.
Ps my used weapon on halo 4 is magnum but I still try different weapons unlike the dmr campers.lol
are you really comparing the H4 DMR to the other starting weapons in the halo series? there is not other starting weapon that gives you such power at ALL ranges so easily.
the halo 1 pistol was only a 2x scope and the damage dropped off at about 125 meters.
the H2 BR was a burst gun and all the bad stuff that comes with it and only a 2x scope.
the H3 br was leadshot with some spread(the first round ALWAYS hit dead center at ALL range) also a 2x scope. (my favourite online starter and here is why i reallywish more people would read this and understand why it is the best for a spawning weapon)
the HR DMR had a TON of bloom on it(until the TU) to make it unreliable in CQB. AND had less RRR.
the H4 DMR is simply TOO easy to use, for the POWER you get from it(compare to the other “precision” rifles). so that leaves 2 options, make it HARDER to use(less RRR, magnetism or Auto aim) or reduce its power( make it a 6 shot or, what i prefer, make it shoot slower{by a fraction of a second, so little i bet you wouldnt notice})
> HALO has always been focused around 1 utility weapon that could be used at all ranges. The pistol, the BR and then the DMR.
You wouldn’t believe how many people said I sucked because I was using the Suppressor and killed them (Was maxing it out)
Same thing with the Storm rifle/Assault Rifle
About to start the Carbine and I’m a bit traumatized (not lol)
Funny because everyone on here wants a DMR nerf yet when I use it to kill people I hear nothing, not 1 peep about how “Oooo a DMR user”
It’s strange
you have never played with me then, if you kill me with a dmr i usally say “-Yoink- your DMR you little -Yoink- -Yoink- -Yoink-” if i have my headset on of course.
> Funny because everyone on here wants a DMR nerf yet when I use it to kill people I hear nothing, not 1 peep about how “Oooo a DMR user”
Another thing is that this halo is class based, which means there definitely shouldn’t be and uber op weapon like the dmr right now.

Not true. in CE EVERY weapon had a use.
I would be fine with it if they brought back the bloom it had in Halo Reach. It prevented it from being super deadly at long range, unlike in Halo 4. The gun’s bullet magnetism being toned down might help as well.
What do you guys think?
They have a few options on nerfing the DMR.
1st: Make it a 6sk
2nd: Keep it the same and make the BR a 4sk
3rd: Make it shoot slower
4th: Increase Bloom like in Halo Reach before the TU.
5th: Reduce Bullet Magnetism and Aim assist

You must have never played halo 2. The BR in that game was 10x more dominate than the DMR is in this game. It could be shot at any range. Had even more bullet magnetism than any rifle in this game and could and could be used to BXR, double shot or quad shot. The only people that would drop their BR in any halo game where the people that couldnt aim and where bad in general.

i enjoy the Reach DMR, the bloom makes it’s harder to use than the one of H4,
now lots of times i can land 5 shoots with no fail
i don’t hate any weapon, but i will love to see again the Reach bloom to have a more challenging DMR

That was enough to shot across any map except Blood Gulch. If you had the shot you could 3 some one in side winder from anywhere.

> The Halo 3 br is very broken and many people disliked Halo 3 because of how broken it was. The burst was random so it became very connection reliant online and leading shots didn’t mean you where guaranteed a hit, it just increased your odds that your bullets would register. It also had a slow kill time on top of your shots not registering. Allowing bad plays to go unpunished and dampening individual skill.

> I actually feel like at mid range the BR is way easier to aim because it is a burst weapon. It allows larger room for error. With the BR you either miss or you hit, cut and dry putting more emphasis on accuracy. Look at swat with the BR and how easy it is to use.
>
> The aim assist and magnetism is the same for all loud out rifle when unscoped so that’s a Halo 4 problem. Making it a 6 shot or dropping the rate of fire would unbalance it because it is harder to aim at close to mid range compared to the other burst rifles.

Unlike previous Halos, Halo 4 is a loadout based shooter. In a loadout based shooter there is no space for an Über Over Powered starting weapon that destroys the other 6 weapons at any range, any situations and it’s super super easy to use. Previous Halos does not have this problem because everyone spawned with the same weapon, everyone had a chance. But now all I can see is people with DMR+Boltshot+Jetpack/Promethean Vision+Resupply+Dexterity. This is the ultimate tryhard noob kit. If you are not totally deaf&blind and paralyzed you can recognize after playing a few hours, the DMR is f*cking over powered. This is the God weapon in the game, and everyone using it because nobody can arrest them for being unfair. That’s simple!
