This is just what I think, it’s not any good compared to the DMR unless you’re at long range, from what I see, AR dominates the Close to mid-range field, and I’m kind of getting sick of all the Slayer DMR matches that I’m getting, can’t there be a gametype with just basic ARs and nothing else or am I just a dreamer?
The AR is niched to being a close to mid-range weapon, with the DMR being a mid to long-range. However, even with that niche, a skilled DMR user can generally outshoot an AR user, even in the AR’s niche.
To me, I’d say the AR doesn’t stack up to the DMR!

Generally, yes. because no one takes the time to practice with the AR, you take the time to really put effort into using it, it comes out on top over the DMR in mid-range combat, almost every time.

Kids that can’t aim or time their shots are hardly skilled DMR users. Even on 100% bloom a spamming DMR user will still beat a fast closing AR user at midrange much of the time.
Yeah I don’t think an Ar can hold a candle to the DMR. Rarely have I been killed by an AR rusher when I have a DMR. Sometimes I totally get caught by surprise from an AR rusher and still manage to kill them with my DMR.

The DMR is just factually a better weapon. I don’t know why you would want to handicap yourself with AR starts.

Because once a player gets an appropriate amount of skill with the AR, a great weapon. it’s infinitely better at mid-range then it is when you just want to get rid of it as soon as possible.

You seem to not notice since no one uses the AR, no one is good with it, almost no one.
It’s a great weapon, once you learn the ropes of using it, it’s superior to most non-power weapons in the game.

I guarantee, if we went into a 1v1, where one of us used the DMR exclusively, and the other the AR, the DMR would win. Of course, for science, it would be 2 rounds, one where I use the AR, and another where I use the DMR.

That’s definitely not the point, you can’t base it on 2 players alone.
get 10 or so people, have each of them train exclusively with the AR in FFAs or Team slayer matches in Custom games once a week for around a year, then get them to go against a team of DMR users, I guarantee they’ll win.

And why not? Not many battles in Halo are actually 5v5, they are mostly 1v1 or 2v2 situations throughout the game. No matter how much practiced someone is with an AR, they will still be ruined by anyone who has half a brain using a DMR. The weapon just has greater damage output.

That’s just it, you don’t.
I can be if I want to. but then again I could just gun a guy down before he can even get close to me.

It’s fine if you think DMR is better, if it works for you, that’s fine. I have no problem with it.
I just think the AR is a better weapon over all, you just need to love it a little, give it your time and learn how to use it, but I guess that’s why the DMR is a popular weapon, it’s incredibly easy to use.

You’re calling the DMR easy to use? Have you seen the bullet magnetism the AR has? Paired with the gigantic reticule. When you get shot while holding an AR, your reticule even gets dragged onto your target even more.
The Assault Rifle is the definition of easymode, but the thing fires skittles, so good luck getting a kill with it.
