DMR- Do You Want It?

This is just my opinion- but I’m skeptical if the DMR should be in Halo 4 for a few reasons.

For one, it outclasses the BR by too much for it to be balanced. As we’ve seen, it fires a bit faster and has more range, but with the same power. Maybe lack of bullet magnetism and slight bloom differs some, but that’s not enough to offset the power gap in favor of the DMR.

Cross-mapping. Did not enjoy this in Reach, especially in Hemorrhage, when you didn’t feel like you could traverse the map and have fun with it. Blood Gulch and Coagulation were much more enjoyable due to this fact.

No Covenant equivalent. Needle Rifle wasn’t brought back.

Just plain not as fun. I’m sorry, but the thud thud thud of the DMR doesn’t compare to the burst fire of the Battle Rifle, much more enjoyable of a weapon.

Edit: Oh and it’s used by the Army, which I’m not sure are in Halo 4, and Chief is a part of the UNSC Navy where the Marines are more closely associated with- Battle Rifle.

I will use the BR in most gametypes except swat. The DMR Is better in swat.

I’d imagine ill be earning a DMR before the LR. so ill use the DMR as my long range buddy until i get the LR. But the BR will probably be my most used precision weapon. Unless the carbine blows me away.

The Carbine looks pretty awesome just as before, I will probably use that in my main loadout whenever I get it.

I some-what agree with this. But overall I don’t think the DMR will be optimal at medium to close range, where as the BR would do better. The DMR will 99% of the time dominate the BR at far range but I feel that if a shot is missed with the DMR in medium to close range, the BR will out beat it. Just my opinion :slight_smile:

Thankfully more of the bigger maps seem to have some good cover and structure to help you get by on foot.

Isn’t the carbine it’s equivalent?

I disagree, I like the DMR but, once again, just opinion :slight_smile:

I think it’s just there for a more diverse sand box. But we never know a TON of stuff has happened from the end of Halo 3 to Halo 4.

See the thing is the DMR doesn’t completely outclass the BR other than in its range. 343i has said that they have been playtested and balanced so that they have comparable kill times. Also this insistence that the DMR has the fastest kill time when it doesn’t is amazing, the carbine does. 343i tested 4sk weapons and according to them it killed way too fast with the way Halo 4 plays and how the sandbox works.

Bottom line I want the DMR and the BR and feel like they are properly balanced from listening to 343i and watching gameplay. And yes I trust 343i, the guys who made the game, over the “xXxPROSxXx” who analyze crappy footage and make GUESSES has to how everything works.

As from Playing Halo 4… My personal opinion is that The DMR is The best UNSC Starting weapon and That the BR is Too under powered as I found killing with the BR Harder Than the DMR…!! if you get what i mean…!!!

I prefer the DMR in every way over the BR. It’s much more reminiscent of the CE Pistol and isn’t gimped or random at range. I prefer the way it punishes being out of position at longer ranges better than the BR does, and I prefer that its single shot nature means that when you pull the trgger you either hit or miss, whereas with the BR the burst can spread and you could miss one or two bullets from the burst or even hit them undeservedly.

DMR is ugly. ill never pick one up if i dont have to.

I would say it is worse. You only have to land one bullet, DMR fires one and the BR three.

I would like it for BTB, but I usually play 4v4 so the BR will be better then that. Plus I hate bloom, I want my bullets to go where I want them to
