I was watching old gameplay from Halo Reach earlier yesterday and a thought came to my mind. Which design do you like best for the DMR? The Reach/4 design with a front sight post and ammo counter or the current Halo 5 design with no front sight post or ammo counter?
My stance on the Halo 5 DMR, if they would put a little more elevation on the scope mount and add a front sight post, it would be perfect. As you can tell, I’m a little more biased to the Reach design.
Halo Reach
Halo 4
Halo 5 Guardians
I like the Halo 5 the most but I do miss the ammo counter.
Also would of been good to have some links so people don’t have to go look it up all the different DMRs.
Boom. Edited to have links to the images of the different DMRs. Sorry I didn’t have them in the post originally. I’m posting from my iPhone and it’s a bit tricky.
For some reason the H5 DMR doesn’t look like it’s rendered all the way. To me it’s missing a whole bunch of metal look to it. The others actually look a little more realistic by the battle worn look that they gave them.
I honestly like it. It reminds me of how the BR in Halo 2 looked.
I forgot how much I liked the Halo: Reach version.
Another view on things…
Halo: Reach
Halo 4
Halo 5: Guardians
Actually what I find odd with the DMR is the scope-height, it doesn’t look like someone could comfortable aim down the sight without using smartlink.
The Halo 4 version is my favourite

Nice and Totally understandable, link stuff over the phone can be a pain.
Halo 4 is my leased favorite because that scope design to me just all over the place.
To me it looks like the Halo Reach/ 4 versons are more suited to the Smart scope or even kneeling or standing position.
The Halo 5 design looks more suited actual aimed shots and prone
I’m liking the Halo 5 one, nice and minimalist.
Halo 5 DMR > Reach DMR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Halo 4 DMR.

Definitely agree! My personal view on it, just add a little more height to the scope mount and a front side post and it’s perfect. Halo 5 DMR ftw. Definitely my go-to secondary, since my go-to primary is an Assault Rifle.
As long as i can shoot some heads off with it, i’m not too picky about the design.
Another thing I noticed, between the beta and e3 gameplay, they changed the zoom for it. The beta DMR showed the entire scope in the zoom, where as e3 DMR has a larger circle and less outer parts of the scope were visible. I thought the beta zoom was pretty awesome, but I guess it’s for the best as far as peripherals are concerned.
Although I liked the overall design of Reach’s DMR, I disliked how high the scope was above the gun. I couldn’t look at it without thinking “How can this be accurate?”

There were a lot of (surprise) complaints about the beta’s DMR scope blocking too much of the screen. So 343i responded to feedback by changing it.
I wonder if there will be a variant of the DMR with an ammo counter.
In first person Halo 4’s my favorite but got to say reach is by far my favorite from the side, so much more detail. The Halo 5 one looks like its not fully rendered.
I think that the Halo 5 design is the best, at least when you’re holding it. It looks a little more realistic than the other two but maybe that’s just because H5 was made on the Xbox One (better graphics).
I prefer the Halo 4 variant over the Halo 5 variant because I like the front sight post on the DMR.
I imagine 343 probably removed it while they were implementing smart scope because they don’t understand how scopes work but I digress, its by no means a bad design, just not my preference.
