Ok so for me personally, I play btb primarily for the vehicular based combat (basically pointless in h4, though), but I see a lot of people who just don’t bother with vehicles in btb, and I also see a lot of people voting on settler, which is really not a vehicle map (nobody uses those two hots, cept me), so could someone who plays btb but doesn’t use vehicles explain to me why they do it? Why not simply play slayer?
Your “job” is to kill the enemy, it isn’t to question their motives for killing you.
Could I be the designated harasser? The player that supports constant fire from a distance while the pointmen take on the enemy more directly?
Could I be attempting to max. my DMR commendation?
Am I not allowed to dislike driving vehicles but still allowed to enjoy destroying them?
Ya know, at worst I could be option b (and 3 options are not the only ones, just some).
I might even be option a.
I certainly am not option c. I love my vehicles. But that doesn’t mean I’m always going for the vehicles.
But it really doesn’t matter why I’m doing what I’m doing, if you want to win, come get me.
If that means I am hiding in a building where your vehicle can’t get me but I can pop you off, then so be it. I’m likely there because I don’t like my teammates gunning or driving and there is someone already in the tank/Mantis. But that’s just me.
As for “Simply play slayer.” There’s only 4 targets in regular slayer, the more the merrier!
i never use vehicles, because using a vehicle takes no skill. I generally go into big team just because i have more than 3 friends online and we want to play together. pure coicidence that most players in big team are pretty bad, so we get lots of easy kills, but really its that i cant always limit playing with 4 people on the HUGE MAPS that Bungie/343 have forced upon us since Halo 3.

Probably cause the vehicles are too weak. I don’t know how many times I’m getting shot at but I’m not too worried my shields are fine the vehicles still looks new and boom it’s health went down so fast my shields were barely touched often surviving my vehicles destruction. The wheel man perk seems to do nothing I’m often finding I’m doing a better job with out the perk.

Yeah, same here, I have to wonder at the value of the wheelman perk.
BTB is much more fun that Slayer, extra team work, more chaos, vehicles - also as i mostly play solo, i am not tied down so much by only 3 other team mates who may suck. Having a larger team also means a larger skill range amongst my team mates (most often).
Your gonna get players camping no matter what the settings are. It can make it frustrating to play at times when your running and gunning but in the long run the camping tactic is always gonna be in a FPS. Its smart and makes sense really. Best thing is to not let it bother you to much.

On Exile I am more than willing to get in & drive the Gauss & have someone else do the shooting, I will also use the Banshee & Scorpion if I get the chance.
On Ragnarok I will very rarely use the Banshee or warthog as they are just there for enemy target practice, the mongoose I will load up & drive to the enemies base to try cause mayhem. As for the Mantis I sometimes use it but I will stay back & play defense at my base & stomp on enemy warthogs/mongoose/ghosts…
Next Vortex oh boy I love getting in that Wraith & I will also happily drive someone around in the RocketHog.
Settler, I didnt use to but depending on which friends I am playing alongside I will jump on the turret & we will go pillage that ridge of enemies. Altho most the time I will be in a base with a shotgun/scattershot happily waiting for the unlucky souls to turn that corner.
Longbow again depends on friends in the game but I will drive a hog (hell I even once got a triple kill from my hog flipping over&over&over&over the poor saps hahaha)
Meltdown GRRRRRRRR I hate that map & will just fly around in a ghost
So with me all depends who I am playing with in the game on weather I am going to get in a vehicle with the exception of the Scorpion & Wraith!
I like to use vehicles for suicide charges… I just charge at the enemy until my vehicle is basically useless… then if I manage to escape… destroy it myself… So the DMRing doesn’t upset me that much in that aspect.
Unless I get a mantis, Scorpion, Banshee or Gauss, I don’t bother with vehicles too often because they are deathtraps.
Vehicles are way to susceptible toward damage from a wide range of weapons, including the DMR. Because of this along with ordinance and players catering their load outs to take down vehicles, I don’t use vehicles that often.
Seriously, BTB use to have ample vehicle usage (the glory days of Halo 3 pretty much).

I mostly play BTB because for me its just more fun. I don’t use vehicles though because they made them so fragile, and with the emp blasts they can get now, it basically renders them almost useless. The only vehicle I use is the ghost because its fun to drive and I do well in it. The main reason I play BTB though, is because I do really well in it. I can usually get close to 15, and on a good day 20 kills to maybe 7-10 deaths. If I go into slayer though, I get annihilated, I do better when I have a larger group of teammates. It takes some of the pressure off for me, because you don’t have a 1/4 (4 vs 4) of the game on your shoulders. But usually I go to a spot, pick a few people off, then run to another spot and pick a few more off. I don’t really camp, but I do stay in certain spots for a few seconds. Now if I can get a bunch of kills in one spot then I’ll stay there, if they don’t like it then come and kill me, but 90% of the time I don’t camp.
