From all the complaints I have seen, it does show some merit about how the usefulness of both weapons seems to differ when it comes to their effective killing ranges and damage. The DMR is meant to be an effective marksman’s weapon and it does so with frightening efficiency. Its a 5SK and even beyond the range of the ‘red mark’ on the reticle, it can hit well and true onto the target. The downside of this is known because even at close range, it can still outgun the BR because of said accuracy.
The BR is a 3 round burst type weapon and a 5SK, the same as the DMR. Meant for hallways fights and close range encounters, it has a minimal bullet spread per shot, and has little need for aim assist to kill its target. The downside of this is that it has little advantage against the dmr if each of its shots are struck. It can’t hit well over longer distances, and due to the distances between cover on certain maps, or even any kind of map in general, its obvious to see why people would want to use the DMR because the killing ranges don’t support what they stand for. The DMR being Mid to long range, and the BR short to medium range.
My suggestion involves not the nerfing of the DMR, but the slight buffing of the BR to a 4SK. It allows the BR to shine because if the DMR gets into the range where the BR can deal the most damage, then BR would have the distinct advantage. The BR would not thrive at long range, and so the advantage would still go to the DMR in that sense.
