Now I know some of you people are justifying this saying that halo 3 did the same thing. While thats true, when this was done halo 3’s peak population wasn’t sitting at what, 35k on a good day? basically what im saying is this game’s population is already incredibly low for a game less than a year after its release. Not necessarily a bad thing, nor am i hating on the game in general. For alot of people, adding DLC requirements wont make them buy DLC (especially for the asking price, im not paying as much for DLC as i payed for the game) itll just make them play something else. Nothing personal; i don’t buy DLC for any game, unless i play it regularly (which simply doesn’t happen to me with any games anymore)
Point being is maybe instead of taking the easy route and making DLC required, you can improve the algorithm that matches DLC players with DLC players. That way i dont have to buy a $10 map pack, and people can play their DLC.
Maybe its just me being annoyed that I repurchased the game not a week ago, played for a day with no DLC requirements, and all of a sudden these came up. If i had known there were going to be DLC requirements i wouldnt have purchased it in the first place.
If you wanna sell me the only DLC that will be required (assuming you wont add further requirements in the future) for 5$,ill buy it. But im not paying $10 for one DLC pack or $25 for DLC im not sure ill ever use.
Thats all i have to say. Try not to KO your population any further, and improve the algorithm instead of slapping restrictions on gameplay.
PS. i see im still a master of unicorns and would like to keep that rank still, if at all possible
read then next time the weekly bulletin on the site.
then you know what is coming news in the play list.
and the chance’s they have make.
you think also the players that have buy the dlc maps never can play on it?
then only that the free users not can play that type play list more?
and chill out its only 1 play list if you wane play a slayer game go to big team battle.

It would be idiotic for me to read bulletins for the game i dont even have.
Especially that since for the longest time before i stopped caring, bulletins consisted of nothing but random pictures and stuff that wasted space.
As for the rest of your post, its incomprehensible, and im not going to erroneously misinterpret what you said and respond otherwise. IDK if english is your primary language or not, but if it is, try a little harder to be understandable please.
I might add that big team battle is a dramatically different playlist than infinity slayer and is not the same experience at all. Nor as enjoyable to me. Its not just one playlist, its 3 or 4.

343 is conducting a experiment to see how DLC required maps work on the old playlists. Infinity Slayer gets about 3000- 4000(higher on weekends) players on average, after the change the number dropped to around 700 players and gets about 700-800 on average now, doesn’t seem it increased any. I guess that not many are buying the maps to play the playlist.
The population might change after the GOTY addition comes out sometime in October.

you know that dlc users have pay for they maps that means they wane play it in matchmaking and so long 343 keeps infinity slayer for a experiment to look for the info they need.
and about bulletins they give us info about the matchmaking what is chancing and what is new coming to matchmaking.
i know most time’s they post noting good on it but i scroll to the matchmaking part to see the new info about it.

If I remember correctly, they plan on doing the same ‘experiment’ after the GOTY releases. Perhaps with the DLC being more available, if the population returns to normal, we will be seeing a DLC requirement on more playlists.
Let’s see, make you require DLC for the playlist that pretty much everyone gets the game to play on multiplayer, then take Big team Battle (The only way to actually play it now) then shove Big team Skirmish (Something really hard to play considering NOBODY USES A MIC) then merge them, successfully -booping- over absolutely everybody, more than they already have.
Thanks 343, glad to know you care so much about the players and not money.

Yeah they want to see what the population is before and after . Judging that IS lost a large portion of its userbase and the base never increased over this week ,including the possibility that the pop won’t increase all that much next week I think the experiement isn’t all that successful unless 343 thinks having about 700 players on the main and only dedicated 4v4 slayer is OK. Obviously the playlist will most likely increase when the GOTY releases , but I don’t know by how much if it isn’t by a lot than I don’t see it being worth it. Also even though the GOTY brings in new players it could mean that since more people have the dlc now they don’t have to keep the DLC required anymore since the players will still have higher chance of playing the DLC than before.

Because that would imply that the great and powerful Halo 3 had flaws. :I
On a serious note, Bungie did the exact same thing people. I think it only worked for them because the population for Halo 3 was topping the charts for months on end while Halo 4 just can’t bring in those kinda numbers. D:
Honestly at this point I hope they do DLC requirements for Halo 5 and prioritize DLC for searches. I honestly don’t care about exactly equal skills. DLC should be made to match over the trueskill match so that I can get my DLC and decently matched people. I’m sure it can be done.
It’s the principal of the matter, if people that bought DLC aren’t getting into matches with other people that do then its a clear sign that the people that don’t have the DLC out number the ones that do. Granted it’s only one playlist now but what happens if it spreads. If they do this across the majority of the playlists I can see the population shrinking to an all new low. I’m sure anyone who hasn’t bought it doesn’t want it.
love 343’s decision making when it comes to majority Vs. minority:
Majority: Competitive settings, Social/Casual, CSR
Minority: It’s fine, we don’t need it
343: Half done CSR, half done competitive playlist, constant merging
Majority: No REAL incentive to buy majestic DLC
Minority: “WE PAID, WE PAID”
343: Doesn’t match people up based on if they have DLC or not (like so many other devs), Creates separate DLC playlists (never seen more than 700 people), takes DLC playlist away, locks down another for those that have the DLC
Not bashing 343…just upset with their decision making is all, hopefully they do better with H5 & H6

its more the same with reach.
players pay for the dlc packs and cant not play on it.
and now has halo 4 the same problem but they are testing now things to see how it can be fair for the dlc users and free users.
that the dlc users can play on the maps they have pay for it and the free users still can play a normal slayer match.
i maybe also know why the population was low on the dlc pack play list each month.
the players wane play not on 1 dlc pack each time they wane play on more dlc packs at the same time.
like castle bulleye crimsom and majestic dlc maps in 1 play list.
but they is 1 problem majestic is to small for 12 players and castle and crimsom are to big for 8 players.
maybe if they make in halo 5 next time only a 12 players dlc map packs then you need only 1 dlc play list for then?
