DLC required?

I really think Reach should go down the Halo 3 route and make most of the core playlists require DLC… Sure a minority will complain as they did with 3 but most will just cave and buy the DLC to play.

Then we get a wider variety of maps in the playists (Team Slayer in particular as it is awful for maps) and they get more sales on their content, it’s a win win I think.

Do you guys think this would be mostly beneficial for the population?
Or not?

I remember when they made BTB DLC req by mistake, the population shot down to about 1.8k from its usual 4-5k population.

If BTB itself lost over 3000 players, the other playlists would be near empty compared to their regular populations.

Squad DLC is always available for those wanting a taste of that DLC juiciness.

Squad DLC is all well and good but it’s population is so low I fear it may soon be omitted from Reach. How long was it required in BTB though? Was in for a very short period of time because given a longer period of time people will probably start to pick up the DLC, they did this in Halo 3, the population should eventually level out.

ya good idea op so that people who can barely afford the game hafta pay even more to play their fav gametypes great idea!!!

Get a job. You had the chance to get both dlc packs for 10 bucks.

No need for sarcastic hostility… Anyway it’s not my idea it comes straight from Halo 3, It’s my opinion that the pro’s would outway the cons when it come to the Overall Reach experience, you’re free to disagree, of course you are… But would it hurt to do it in a more civil manner. Or am I asking too much of the internet? :stuck_out_tongue:

lol sokay bro

I would like this, since I don’t want to have to play Squad DLC with its 200-300 population and the awful Vanilla settings just to play on the maps I bought. I feel like I wasted my money since I never get to play on these maps, and a lot of them are so much better than the original Reach maps.

The custom games I’ve played them on were always fun and I’ll never forget looking up once and seeing the covenant glassing once again raining down death for anyone… 343 really did a great job with the flow of those maps too, the Defiant map pack. It’s actually the first Halo game where I don’t feel the need to get the achievements for those levels because I enjoyed them that much.

Most underrated Halo 3 map? Longshore. I loved that map, but never really got to play because the developers don’t make playlists DLC required, though I think they’ve done well in ensuring if everyone has DLC that they appear in your voting que. I feel that the devs are punishing dedicated fans who spent their hard earned money on the extra maps by not requiring them.

I wish they would . . .

This is pretty much the reasons why it should be done, Squad DLC is dying… Unfortunately I don’t think they’d ever do it because of the minority that will not buy the maps :frowning:
nvm I shall continue to play Slayer on Countdown until Halo 4 comes out lol

They’d need to lower the price of the maps then.

At this point the maps should be free. I mean sheesh Halo Reach was like $8.99 a few weeks ago! LMAO! THEN they should require DLC in both BTB and Objective. Remove Squad DLC, re-add Squad Slayer, or Squad Battle variant (with objective/slayer)

Forcing people to pay an additional fee to continue playing Reach on-line simply will not work. It would cause more harm than good and the harm done to the franchise would be irreparable. I like the idea of more maps but forcing people pay for them in order to continue playing a game they have already paid for, in principle, is wrong in so many ways. If anything, 343 should just give the maps away to generate more interest in a troubled game franchise. The population would double, possibly even triple, overnight.

There are so many other ways to get the maps for free by using bing rewards to get free microsoft points or XBL rewards. So I think that the DLC Maps should be required.

Making the maps free would be the best way forward but that is down to Microsoft…
Anyway I didn’t suggest making every playlist require the DLC just most, people could still play online, but I know what you mean, they’d feel like they’re being punished for not having the DLC which isn’t the goal at all. I don’t know how Halo 3 pulled this feat off without mass uproar and franchise harm…

No. If there’s a playlist that allows you to play DLC (Squad DLC), that’s enough. Just play that.
