DLC Playlists Ideas

Hey there 343 and Community,

I’m pretty new to the forums here, but definitely not the Halo franchise. Even since Halo 4’s matchmaking has been released I’ve not been one to complain about the various balancing issues, glitches, etc. and have just taken the game for what it was and had fun. While that’s all well and good, one thing that I am very disappointed with is the lack of PERMANENT DLC playlists. I have now sunk an extra 30 dollars into Halo 4 on DLC (Champions Bundle, Castle Map Pack, and Majestic Map Pack) on top of the original 60 dollars I payed for the game. From what I can tell, at least with Majestic and Castle as I was late to buy The Champions Bundle, there were only playlists up for about a month or two, and were then taken down. The major issue with this is now I have payed 30 dollars for maps (excluding the skins and armor and what not) that I can not even play. As far as I know, the only way that I can play these DLC is if EVERYONE in a matchmaking lobby has at least one of the map packs, but the simple truth is that not everyone buys DLC. In fact I have not once been in a lobby were everyone has one of the map packs, thus rendering the 30 dollars I have spent wasted, and the very cool maps that I payed for useless. So to fix this issue I propose creating 3 different matchmaking playlists that require ALL of the DLC map packs. The playlists would also include the vanilla game’s maps to maintain freshness in the map selection, and avoid map repetition.

1.Big Team Battle DLC-A mix of Big Team Infinity Slayer and Big Team Battle. The map line up would consist of the following maps:

Shatter

Wreckage

Daybreak

Outcast

Complex

Ragnarok

Vortex

Meltdown

Longbow

Exile

  1. Next Playlist is DLC 5v5. This playlist would consist of standard Slayer as well as objective based gametypes such as Capture the Flag, Extraction, and Ricochet. The map line up would consist of the following maps:

Landfall

Perdition

Vertigo

Harvest

Solace

Abandon

Adrift

Solace

  1. The final playlist would be DLC Rumble Pit. This playlist would consist of standard Slayer and Legendary Slayer, and could also include objective based gametypes such as Regicide. The map lineup would consist of the following maps:

Skyline

Monolith

Pitfall

Haven

Solace

Abandon

The playlists above could also include pre-made and community made forge maps as well. I TRULY believe that if these playlists, or playlists that are similar were created, that those who chose to further support Halo 4 by purchasing the DLC would much happier and very grateful. The community as a whole might be more compelled to continue playing Halo 4 and quite possibly buy the DLC to play these 3 playlists. I know that I would purchase the final DLC that I do not own (Castle Map Pack) so that I could finally get my money’s worth out of the DLC that I have already bought in a heart beat. I am sure that the rest of the community who bought the DLC would agree, and this would finally create a very expansive and fresh map rotation. Please at the very least 343, take what I have written into consideration.

Thanks to whoever has bothered to read this entire post. Sorry for the length, but I feel very adamant about this topic. Please I ENCOURAGE you to talk and debate on this thread to get 343’s attention, and finally make it so that we can play our DLC.

I completely agree with your proposal. While others would like to see a return of the Castle DLC playlist, I’d like to opt that out and simply create at least one permanent DLC playlist that requires all DLC. It would be nice to have three, but I’m not sure if it would be possible to add those at the same time.

Like OP stated, a Big Team Battle DLC playlist would be really fun to have, and the 5v5 and Rumble Pit ideas don’t sound bad either. Rumble Pit would be relatively essential for earning achievements. Bear in mind that this might be encouragement for gamers to purchase the DLC so they may participate, too.

It seems like the population is already on decline,so you would think that 343 would try to keep their most dedicated players (those who buy DLC) wanting to play their game. It seems odd that they would just remove the DLC playlists all together.
