So off the bat, let me say I really like how were getting DLC and for free (Though a lot of it should of been in the game off the bat IMO) but I’m concern here. Out of the 4 new maps were getting in the Dec. update, only the one for Warzone isn’t a remix or forge created map.
Now I know people have brought this up before, and I’m not trying to make it seem like I’m hating on 343I or anything. I’m just concern and expressing my thoughts on this. I was beyond hype for the Dec update, I’ll admit it. I told all my friends (who all more less have left halo 5 for other games now ) and they were even excited to see what the Dec update would bring. When I told them everything that was announced in last weeks weekly update https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/cartographer-s-gift-sneak-peek, every single one of them asked the same thing "So are these free maps that halo 5 is getting, mainly going to be forge/remix ones? I responded with… “I don’t know, I doubt all will be, but I hope not”
Honesty, with games like Star Wars BF, CODBO3 etc. releasing new designer maps that look amazing (mainly the star wars ones) and then you see what Halo 5 is putting out… well… it just doesn’t give me a lot of confidence here, nor can you even compare them. The remixes and forge maps aren’t bad by any means don’t get me wrong, but they can not compare to original maps made by designers, lets face it. Also, If this is the case , I kind of feel…cheated… per say in a way. When I heard back when from 343I that 15-20 maps were coming out after launch, I don’t think remixes or forge maps… I don’t know, maybe that’s just me…maybe that’s my fault. This is also not helping me “sell” the game back to my friends to get them back playing.
Remixes and Forge maps are great, but shouldn’t be the bulk of the “free DLC maps” IMO. My hype for the Dec. update has kind of died down a lot… (God I wish the SPNRK rocket launcher was the default RL in Halo 5 arena. Not a fan of the new one at all!!)
So, what does every one else think about this? Anyone else Concern that most of these free DLC maps will be mainly forge and remixes?
TBH all the forge maps and remixes look really bad to me, past Halos had much better looking ones.
Speaking aesthetically, not in terms of balance or game play.
I really do not understand, for the life of me, the fixation on pretty looking multiplayer maps. The H5 forge aesthetic is clean, clear, and functional. It doesn’t clutter the play space up with a bunch of needless detail, particle effects, and minutia. If they added nothing but maps that look about on par with Halo CE and they played amazingly, I would be perfectly happy. Why? Because I’m not playing multiplayer to stare at the wall textures. Is this what the console FPS audience is? And people wonder why AAA games follow trends and dumb everything down… But at least it’s really shiny, right? Who cares?
They’re free. They will continue to be free. People will be playing Halo 5 long after Battlefront dies down. COD never dies though lol. Can’t believe this is what people complain about now…
The only map we don’t have a remix is Rig, so in theory after January they will have to make new maps. I’m pretty sure only BTB maps will be Forged, with the exception of community maps.

The forge maps are bad and disgustingly unbalanced and off. We need original maps. Its like 343 doesnt even care about having an original thought. Piggy back bungies ideas… just make it good

I’m excited for Battle of Noctus and Overgrowth, but yeah, this BS of counting Forge maps is insane, they counted them in the game’s map count so you know they’re counting towards the DLC total also.
The 15 maps they announced between December & June of 2016 are all new, DLC maps. They simply made eight maps for BTB out of Forge (big name community forge fans were flown out & made five of those maps) which they are distributing slowly instead of all at once. So we got four at the launch of BTB, then we’ll get two more in December along with a brand-new Warzone & Arena map. Then in January we will get two more Forge BTB maps to end out the Forge BTB maps & whatever else as new maps. Those eight Forge maps do not count as part of the 15 though, they are on top of it. So they might even make 1-2 actual DLC BTB maps at some point too. The only thing that is firm is that there will be a total of six new Warzone maps between December-June 2016, one of which we will be getting this month. There is no clue if they mean six completely brand-new maps or what they did at launch. (How they announced there were six Warzone maps on the disc, but there were really three in Warzone & three in Assault that were really similar) One thing the community will have to get over is at some point there will probably be 1-2 Breakout maps as well & they will consider them as part of that 15 when those maps are so easy to make, people will complain about that no doubt.

Really? I really like regret and it looks great. But I will agree with you on Eden. That map is very boring to me with just the added cat walks.
The only BTB forged map to me that is ugly is the Headlong remake. The longbow remake is a little ugly as well but man the game play outweighs all of that by a ton lol. The game is just too fun for me to care anymore about BTB always being forged. But the 4v4 arena maps better have some more originals in the future.
