For a while, I could understand the notion that “We don’t want to exclude people” or “Don’t limit new players”…But times have changed. There aren’t any new players to Reach anymore. The only people left playing are the hardcore Halo fans that have probably bought the DLC. It’s time to require all DLC in all but a few playlists.
Yes, Halo 3 was a bit more restricting if you hadn’t bought any DLC…But Halo 3 was also a far more rewarding and varied matchmaking experience because it required DLC to play certain playlists. I can’t tell you how many times I get Countdown over and over and over and OVER in Team Slayer or Squad Slayer.
I want to play Tempest and Anchor 9 and Condemned…All are such great maps! I want to be able to play these maps without having to resort to playing a single playlist. Actually, I can’t even do that if I wanted. The Premium Battle playlist doesn’t have the Anniversary maps!
I’m sick of seeing the same old maps over and over in my favorite playlists. I know it’s SUPPOSED to pair you up with people that have the maps…But there are so few people playing Reach that it can’t possibly find a full lobby of people with the DLC. I paid for these maps, as did many others, and they just aren’t being used.
I wish I would stop being punished for supporting the game and purchasing map packs, because if I want to play them, I have to play ONE playlist. This is not how you treat loyal customers.
Require DLC in everything except Team Slayer, Arena, FFA, and Objective. That way, anyone that doesn’t have the DLC has access to every kind of gametype and the “ranked” gameplay.
I want to play those maps I paid for, 343. Please…Don’t just punish me for supporting the game by shoving me into one playlist and calling it “good”.
Tempest has trash spawns, and is a terribly thrown together map.
Anchor 9 is terrible for gameplay unless space is COMPLETLY blocked off.
Condemned is meh at best
Highlands is actualy realy good, but camping teleporters is a problem.
And um that one snow map is kinda good, havent realy played enough of it.
> The Premium Battle playlist doesn’t have the Anniversary maps!
…Yes it does.
> I wish I would stop being punished for supporting the game and purchasing map packs, because if I want to play them, I have to play ONE playlist. This is not how you treat loyal customers.
So you say you don’t want to be “punished”, but want to turn around and “punish” people who don’t want to drop money on the maps?
> Please…Don’t just punish me for supporting the game by shoving me into one playlist and calling it “good”.
No matter how much you call it “punishment”, it will not just magically become punishment.
343i said in a Bulletin a few weeks ago that they will not be doing this, DLC maps appear in near to all playlists more commonly now and Premium Battle still exists if you want to play DLC maps.
Totally on board for this. The maps were even half priced awhile ago, which I will admit is the only way Defiant is worth buying.
It’s ridiculous that buying DLC maps doesn’t actually expand your game at all. Your $60 game purchase bought you a year of keeping us down, time to step aside those of you who can’t afford the maps but pretend you’re just taking a stand.
Also, I’d like to point out that Halo 3 didn’t seem to suffer for this method.
The only thing that pisses me off is that i will never be able to get matched up with players who have DLC in infection!!! Infection is the most popular playlist in Reach. So it pisses me off that i will never be able to get the achievement unless 343 take care of it…I don’t have any problem with my 5 Anniversary playlists though…

Then why are people complaining about not getting their DLC usage? Bloody hell…

Because they don’t want to leave their respective playlists they’ve holed themselves into? I don’t know. I’ve had several games in other playlists where DLC maps have shown up and have been voted for…

Personally i haven’t played once a DLC map out of their normal playlists…maybe 1-2 times…but even with that…why not having DLC only playlists with all kinds of gametypes? Just like the normal ones.
I have about 850 games in BTB, 375 of which have been after the release of the Defiant map pack. Not once have I seen it pop up on the voting selection much less play an actual 8v8 match on it before.
This just isn’t fair for me. I bought the DLC yet I only get a chance to play it in 1 playlist. How is that fair at all when the maps I purchased aren’t even best suited to 6v6 gameplay?
IMO, everything added in and after the first playlist update plus BTB and Invasion should be DLC required. Those of you who haven’t paid for the DLC should not get the benefits of a developer who continues to support their game online at no cost to you.

This post explains it perfectly: Premium Battle is only one playlist and it’s some kind of Half-BTB Half-Normal playlist. I really like 4v4, and there is NO way to play DLC maps in a 4v4 environment right now other than MAYBE getting matched up with an entire party that has them, and then MAYBE having the DLC map get voted for.
Yes, it is punishing us. We spend money on DLC, and we don’t get to play it in the style we wish to play them in.
They should just give up the greed and make Noble and Defiant free, and let Anniversary be the sole pay-to-play DLC now. Noble’s been out for a year, and barely anybody even bought Defiant considering how often (never) it comes up outside of Premium.
This is said as someone who bought both DLC packs at full price. I’ll feel like I got my money’s worth more if I have people to play with than if I have exclusive stuff I paid for. Reach needs a shot in the arm, and that would be a pretty decent one.
