DLC for Halo Wars?

Is it possible that new maps could ever come out at a reasonable price for Halo Wars, or if the current DLC could become free in order to shoot some life back into the game. Maybe even just Deal of the Week like from 800 points to 200 points.

I’ve made some suggestions on the Halowars.com Forums a while back, but because of the lack of moderators, I got no response. My idea was to take some of the hooks (like secondary reactors, supply elevators, and extra building slots) and kind of delete the hooks off the current 2v2/3v3 maps and add new ones to spice the game up.

Here is my thread on Halowars.com. I really do not want my ideas to get lost forever. I originally said that I would pay 800 points. That would be a good price if 5-6 maps were included. I think 400 points is fair for 3-4 maps, since the work has already been done, it just involves moving around the extra features of the maps.

I would appreciate feedback from some moderators of this site and some community feedback as well (whether or not it would make you play Halo Wars again if new maps were added)

Thank you =]

It’s highly doubtful that there are going to be new maps released for Halo Wars. It’s an older console game.

But it is the only console RTS still somewhat played. Before Reach came out, there were 10,000 players on according to the population count. Now there are about 3000-5000, and I think adding new maps would bring back those 5000-7000 people.

It may be one of the very few RTS console games still played, indeed. 10,000 people before Reach wasn’t very good for numbers.

Also, the company that made Halo Wars was dissolved, so that dampers the possibility of new DLC for Halo Wars even more.

It wouldn’t take much for the DLC that I suggested to be made. It’s kind of like forging the maps into new ones. Microsoft makes money and Halo Wars becomes popular again. It’s a win-win.

I’d settle for a balance patch. Shift things around a little, fix some bugs. Forcing people to develop new strategies would do far more to draw the top players back in. I’m not sure if scrandoms would come back to buy a DLC. But I would buy the DLC if it was reasonable.

[Edit] Sorry my internet was being very funny and this post somehow came through as I was writing the one below whereas I thought it was simply lost to the void.

I don’t know if randoms would come back just to pay for a DLC. I think the high level play would be revitalized by another balance patch. Fix the grizzly canister, slow tanks down by 25%, buff cobras, etc. I bet some of the high level people would come back to try out new strategies. But I would pay for a DLC if it was reasonable. Maybe some more 3v3 and 2v2 maps, it’s pathetic that there’s only 4 3v3 maps even with the DLC considering those are the play lists with the most players.

Since we’re being hopeful here, how about a HW2 DLC. Same engine, different balances, maybe a few more units, import the old maps add new ones, then sell it in Xbox Arcade for $20 or something. I bet you’d make bank considering there’s no packaging, shipping, handling, or middle men, and you could just use the same engine so it wouldn’t take too much as far as designing is concerned. I’d buy it.

I don’t think Halo Wars 2 would get as much publicity with that.

What do you mean? They would post the crap out of it on the Xbox dashboard for one, and magazines would cover it for sure. Halo Wars was the best console RTS so it would be news.

I’m sort of surprised this is being ignored…

A Halo Wars arcade sounds like a good idea too. I would just hope that the developers of it would have some clue on what needs fixed since I don’t think the people on these forums realize that Halo Wars isn’t a shooter and wasn’t designed in order to be like the normal Halos. They all seem to think that it is stupid because it takes thought and time. A Halo Wars Arcade project should be initiated, and they should take ideas and feedback from the mid/high-level community of Halo Wars to make it the perfect console RTS.

But this probably will never happen because we all know that 343 doesn’t care about an RTS, just popular, over-done FPS’s.

Blast it on the dashboard, provide a demo, trailers, even some Campaign. Sell it in the stores as well, because many people that I know that don’t have Live, play against the AI constantly because that is like Firefight or Zombies, it never gets boring.

Which is mind numbingly stupid considering a HW2 Arcade DLC would be almost nothing but profit.

I bought the DLC when it first came out and I’d be happy to see it go free now. This would allow some extra maps to be included in the normal gametypse to give a little more variety as very (very) few people play the actual DLC playlists it isn’t worth it.
