Hello reader/343/Microsoft.
Everyone loves playing the good old Halos, even Halo Reach.
I’m sure the community would agree that it would awesome if you guys would provide the DLC maps for Halo 3 and Reach for free!
It would probably increase populations, definitely improve map selection and finally increase your fan base!
Please consider my proposal,
Thanks,
Ace.
Halo 3 DLC is still buyable only with the exception of one map that was meant to be free. There’s no way they’re going to give it away with Achievements attached to it, only in extremely rare cases do they do that.
So I wouldn’t get your hopes up, at the very least you may get a discount but you’ve got a zero percent chance of it ever being free.
Like Spearhead said, the DLC will not be free due to Microsoft DLC policy regarding tied achievements. Plus asking 343 to consider making them free is a waste of time since they have absolutely no control over anything that happens on the XBL Marketplace.
Trust me, xbl marketplace will never make there dlc free. They love money!
I understand the good that it’d do to those who have the DLC’s. I was playing Halo 3 the other day and I had the Heroic Map Pack which you get from Halo 3 ODST. And yes I understand Halo 3 is old and that many people have moved on, but there’s still a small population of a couple thousand who still play the game. I had never played the Heroic Map Pack so I was interested in trying out. Sadly the population for this playlist was only 50. With such a small playlist population finding other players took a long time and I only got to play one game. I support your idea of free DLC’s because it not only benefits those who don’t have the DLC’s, but those who do. DLC populations would rise making waits shorter and an overall better experience for everybody. Yet as said by other people before me Microsoft would never do this. If they were to release all of these DLC’s for free they’d be losing nearly a game’s worth in money. I think the best compromise would be to ask for a lowering in price (maybe 50%?). Microsoft is going to have to face facts: The player population for Halo 3, Halo Reach, and even Halo 4 is decreasing. And the announcement of the Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One isn’t going to help their sales of these DLC’s anymore. Microsoft just needs to lower prices to make some money and at the same time please gamers.

Welcome to Waypoint. Please don’t bump 9 month old threads to say hi. If you want, you ca introduce yourself in the Roll Call forums
I remember it used to be that way years ago. Eventually map packs would be available for free when the new one came out. I agree, though…at this point just make the Reach and H3 ones free. Those games are fun to put in once in a while, though I’m not paying any more for them.
It is silly reading this entire thread with what has happened recently.

Please don’t revive old topics, thanks.
