Well let me start by asking you this. How would you like to pay for something that you very very rarely get to use. Or even worse. You can’t use it the way you want? If you want a change to be made Please let yourself be heard. Things don’t change by being silent. Please if you are as frustrated as I am let’s hear what you have to say. The more posts we get the more likely 343i is bound to notice and make the appropriate changes. They are alway good at listening to the community
Well I know that there are a lot of you players out there like me that have been dedicated fans of halo since the beginning. If your like me you have always purchased the DLC maps and or content for every single game(maybe some of you this is the first game you have and that’s ok your still dedicated). The excitement of getting new maps and being able to experience new environments is all so exciting. But unfortunately you are only able to play these new maps in a specific playlist that’s assorted with random gametypes. Slyer, ctf, Koth, etc.
What about if I would like to just play in a slayer playlist or ctf playlist with the new maps intermixed with the old DLC as well? Well I can’t because for some reason the maps are only in a single, random DLC playlist. If I search in regular playlist almost %99 of the time*(not an exaggeration by any means I play a decent amount to know*) I will NOT find other players who have the DLC maps.
It seems that we dedicated players who spend our money are not rewarded or recognized in any way! Wouldn’t you want to show your dedicated fans appreciation for spending the extra money for some good fun new DLC? Why is 343I catering to everyone else who says halo 4 is terrible (Which it’s not, just needs a few fixes)**(Best Halo EVER!)**but still plays it anyways.
I was soo excited about the new Champions bundle coming out but if this problem isn’t fixed. Why even bother buying the maps?
People should have to buy the DLC if they want to play. It’s not that bad. Just think about how much you spend eating out when you could save by buying from the grocery store. At least the maps last forever. Or I have an even better idea. Why not make DLC-sub-playlist that has a DLC slayer playlist, DLC CTF playlist, etc for us Die-hard fans where we can enjoy the product we payed for the way we want.
I don’t agree that 343 should force the issue to buy DLC, but I do agree that 343 has done and continues to do a terrible job at accessing DLC.
They need to add a dedicated map selection slot for each DLC Map pack as they become available so we can play the content we paid for. I stupidly bought the LE H4 thinking the game would be great and I could always play the DLC packs too - won’t ever make that mistake again with a 343 title.
It’s simple marketing 101 that people do not buy products IF they can’t use them. So why would i buy a map pack and then find out it’s at 343’s whim that I can play it or not. It may be 4 + weeks before 343 decides that they should swap out a different pack for play.
And I will not be buying any more DLC map packs either. The lag makes the game terrible and I have switched back to Halo reach for my Halo Fix (love playing Assault, 2 Flag CTF and being able to drop the Flag, also playing BTB as an Elite and loading a Falcon up with 2 mike’d team mates and shooting the crap out of the other team). Only 5% of my Reach games lag the same way that 70% of the H4 war games lag - so it isn’t me or my connection - it’s H4.
Merge BTIS and BT Skirmish and make Big Team Battle.
Remove Regicide as a stand alone playlist and put the gametype in Rumble Pit.
The added room would allow 343i to create 2 permanent DLC playlists so all of the DLC is available to be played at any time.
Squad DLC- 5v5
Majestic Pack, Champions Pack, Harvest, Daybreak, and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Majestic Pack, Champions Pack, and Forge Island required.)
BTB DLC- 8v8
Crimson and Castle packs and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Crimson Pack, Castle Pack, and Forge Island required.)
Check out my latest video concerning the needs of Halo. I address this very problem of DLC, and I think it is a real viable solution to only very rarely being able to play those maps we paid for.
I address this problem around the time of 12:00. Feel free to watch the whole video if you like.
I would like to see a DLC Playlist…alls we have atm is crimson. but with the above post ^ I agree. a 5v5 and 8v8 would be great. And the dlc playlist would require that you have all of the dlc downloaded and bought to play in it. would be a simple fix for the ones who have bought dlc but hardly ever get to play on the maps. Defo frustrating for me cuz I want to get all the achievements, some of them are hard enough to get but, impossible if you never get to play on the maps required.
I have all the DLC and have never even touched foot on some of the DLC maps because 343 still has crimson DLC out and has been that way for some time now…crazy.
I don’t think I will ever be able to go into matchmaking and play the maps I PAID for. sigh

That would piss so many people off, as they want to play one or the other.
I could see this working, some people would disagree and be pissed off to see their favorite playlist put into others, but it would be more fair for DLC owners
besides, im more then sure those playlist people like can be voted for in rumble pit or Big team anyway,
Great feedback guys! I agree with a lot of the ideas here. Certain ones I wouldnt like such as putting BTI slayer and BTI skirmish together. I definately like my slayer games in separate playlist than objectives. Now I think the idea to put regiside into rumble pit is a fantastic idea. I don’t understand why it has it’s own playlist. Seems pointless to me.

I like your point concerning the achievements because it’s true as well that it’s impossible to try to get them when you never play the maps. And that’s something I love working towards as well.
Am I the only one that doesn’t feel like I wasted money on DLC? People keep blaming 343 for the lack of DLC coming up when the reason you don’t get it is due to people not buying it. They can’t really force people to buy it and the DLC specific playlists get a whole 200 people. I wouldn’t mind the DLC playlist rotation to be more frequent like switching it up every week. It may add a few people to the playlist and keep the numbers slightly higher.
the champions dlc will be the first one i’ve ever skipped. reach had the same issue of dlc rarely showing up. (man i wish i got to play more of the anniversary stuff!) but 4, in comparison left me practically making little to no use of any of it’s map packs. i prefer the big 8 vs. 8 style maps, too, so finding that many players with the content is a very rare thing in matchmaking. and even then, the map has a 1/3 chance of actually getting played.
that’s always the saddest moment. when the option to play a map i’ve barely set foot on finally shows up only to fade away for again who knows how long in a matter of seconds. i’m one who’s been happy with halo 4 for the most part. the story is great, most of the game-play lived up to or exceeded my expectations, etc. (though there were certainly some changes to get used to. there are some aspects of reach that i thought were better refined than they seem to be in 4.) but buying the dlc has just felt a waste to me.
the most life i got out of the dlc was some split-screen 1 vs 1 with my buddy who - beyond being a better player than me - ensures me that watching my half of the screen is a legitimate strategy. all the while dissing my promethean vision when i managed to come out on top. haha. the smaller, more appropriate maps for this type of play were actually really fun to play on, but my style calls for the epic 8 vs 8 mayhem spread across huge, intricate battlefields. the stuff you play on live.
i do hope there comes a better handling of dlc in the future. i hoped the season pass might do the trick, but unfortunately it seems to not appeal to most. i still think they need an all-out dlc playlist including all 3 map packs with teams of 6 or so. sure, some of the smaller maps would play crazy, but i’d rather play them crazy than not at all. i’d go on and on (as i already have… why can i not post anything under several paragraphs anymore? xD), but i’ve already done so in at least a few threads over the course of halo 4. bleh.
> How about how Call of Duty does it? Pool players with others who have the same combo of DLC as you. Works wonders in their games. Why not Halo?
No objections here.
A huge request since Halo 3 was to introduce a DLC search restriction alongside skill, language and good connection, but in Halo 4 they removed these options are tried to make Matchmaking do it all at once with no way to change them.

I like this, except point #2. How about we remove Regicide, forget it ever existed, and have Rumble Pit be the old Rumble pit we know and love =)

Supposedly, they already do this. On a number of bulletins (since Reach) they’ve mentioned that the matchmaking system looks to pair you with people who have the map packs.
Maps should be free. They have plenty of other ways to get our money. This ensures the good maps gets voted. It ensures a happier player base. It does not fragment the population. Maps should be free. For a company not afraid to try new things and new revenue streams, I’m surprised they didn’t latch onto this. Maps should be free.

It does, problem is that isn’t good enough. I want to be able to wait longer just to play the DLC, it should be an option, don’t force it into matchmaking like Halo 2, 3, Reach and 4 have done.
