Why do so many people have such a hard time understanding that, like humans, the alien species’ that make up the Halo universe have a diverse set of opinions and are divided amongst themselves into multiple factions?
I’ve had to explain time and time again, sometimes to the SAME PEOPLE over and over that not ALL Brutes believed in the Prophets. And not ALL Elites wanted to side with humanity. And not ALL Prophets were involved in the manipulation of other species’, but were actually victims of the manipulation.
I just don’t get why everyone black-and-whites it, and then are surprised when a few exceptions to the rule are introduced?
Halo Glassland introduced Brutes that forsake the Covenant and joined the Elites, it also introduces a civil war within the Elites between a group that wants to maintain an alliance with humanity, and a group that wants to kick humanity while everyone is down.
Heck even Humanity has it’s group that wants the alliance with Elites, and a group that just wants to see the Elites exterminated from existence. (Yes, Humans CAN be the bad guys too), and then there’s the Insurrectionists, the Elite Heretics from Halo 2, (disbelieved the Covenant, didn’t side with humanity).
Everyone, even non-humans, are entitled to opinions within the Halo universe. It’s not a situation where “All Elites are part of this new Covenant” chances are the new Covenant is the group following the Servants of Abiding Truth. There are probably other factions that fight alongside humans STILL, and a peace treaty is likely in place for that group.
The other major argument is about Brute separatists in Halo Glasslands. Is it REALLY so hard to believe that some Brutes broke off from the Covenant and joined the Elites? And is it hard to believe that some Elites saw the usefulness of these rebels and decided to fight alongside them?
Long story short: Not all Elites hate humans, not all humans hate Elites, not all Elites hate Brutes, not all Brutes hate Humans, not all humans hate Brutes, not all brutes hate Elites.
