Diverse use of the sandbox

For Halo XBO, I would like to see each and every weapon and vehicle (more or less) having a stronger presence in the campaign. Not so much “Let’s put a lot of weapons from all three groups in this level,” but more “In this level you’re stranded in a Covenant area; there are no UNSC weapons.” I felt that during the campaign of Halo 4, we didn’t really get a good opportunity to use the Covenant weapons in particular, and there was no moment that really urged us to scavenge for fresh weapons.

Yeah, I found it sad that the only way I really felt like I was the only human on Requiem was because I didn’t have a gunner for my warthog.

I think the level where your in the core has very minimal, if any, human weapons around though.

Didact’s ship has a random collection of human and covenant tech.

I think part of the problem though is all the guns feel so similar. No BR/DMR? No problem, the Light Rifle is there.

That’s the main problem right there. In past Halo games (to an extent or another), Covenant weapons felt different from their human counterparts, and forced you to engage your enemies in different ways than you would normally. However, in Halo 4, Forerunner weapons just feel exactly like their UNSC versions. Pick up a DMR or a Light Rifle, it’ll be the same one way or the other. Scattershot or Shotgun? No real difference.

I expected Forerunner weapons to feel exotic, powerful and different. They shouldn’t be exactly like human weapons, they should stand out as being unique and interesting.

I think they said in their “wheel chair” presentation that they went away from experimental weapons to make the game more accessible.

I believe you’re right. That presentation showed us every single thing that was wrong with Halo 4 was intentional. This whole “making the game more accessible” idea is terrible. 343 Industries should go back, take a look at nice long look at the Forerunner weapons, and redo every single one of them.
