So, i just played a team slayer game on penance, and i decided that i should try to get “dive bomber”, i beat down a player and i got the firebird medal, but i still didn’t get the achievement, how should i do to get it?
Unfortunately, there’s an inconsistency between the names of medals and what the in-game commentary reports. If you see “Player1 beat down Player 2” then Player1 got the medal called Pummel (looks like a fist). I forget what the in-game commentary reads for this, but what you want is the medal called Beat Down (looks like a ninja). It’s the old assassination, before there were animated assassinations. In fact, the way I failed most frequently when trying to get this medal was that I’d be so excited I’d press the melee button too long and initiate the animated assassination instead of the quick beat-down from behind.

that explains it, i thought it was just getting a melee kill, thanks.
Just what the felow said. It has to be a beat down not a pummel!
I got mine on Elite Slayer on Ridgeline. I just got behind a guy who wasn’t paying attention and jetpacked while I beat him down. Easy stuff.
Yeah, your best bet is to camp somewhere and just sneak up behind someone hold jetpack and hit (Don’t hold) melee. I got a video on my fileshare of some funny cat and mouse sneaking to get it.
I also regret not doing an assassination for the Armor Lock Assassination one, on a Defiant map. I had it, but I had previously read online that Beatdowns counted too. So I chose to beatdown the guy instead of Assassinate him. Beatdowns do not count. No achievement. Won’t make that mistake again (If I ever get the opportunity, now that Defiant maps are MIA from matchmaking). :o
