So, I know I’m not the only who hasn’t noticed this, but when playing on bigger maps, have you noticed that scenery in the distance becomes worse than Halo CE?
Now before you say “get a better monitor”, I use a 64 inch LED tv with a hdmi cord set up with my xbox, and yes I have the highest graphics settings enabled via dashboard.
But seriously, wtf is up with that? This game has apparently had one of the highest spend salaries but it can’t render an object 100 yards away? It’s really an eye sore 343, NONE of the other games had this.
ALSO, the rendering problem also occurs with people holding any type of large weapon on their back, it even happens on haven, I’ll turn to bottom mid and see a guy down there with this like giant -Yoink- block on his back which later turns into a sniper/beam rifle.
Don’t get me wrong though, I -Yoinking!- love this game, and am proudly a huge fanboy of this series since the beginning. It just bugs me that so much money was put into this game, yet you can’t make the rendering process better.
judging from your GT and the topic of this thread, I’d say you’re are around 15 years old.
you’re playing on a SEVEN YEARS OLD console.
that means they have to do sacrifices in order to keep the framerate constant and the game pretty. see all these lights and particles effects when a grenade goes kaboom? it’s the cause of your problem. well, half of the cause. (the other half being the xbox being an ancient console with hardware that was outdated even when the 360 came out).
the prettier a game is, the more compromises there must be (at least on a console).
(that includes : compressed textures, lack of particles, 30 fps instead of 60 master race, and in this game, lowered rendering distance).
I’ve even noticed it on Haven. Stand at the back of one of the ramps and the middle pillar things coming down from the roof in bottom mid just turn into large grey blobs.
Its very noticable on larger maps with any kind of ranged detail. Its probably a performance issue, though it looks like a slight bugged graphics detail with it. Ranged detail should degrade to keep performance up, though not in the pixelated blocky nature it does atm. It should instead lower texture resolution, and not cause extreme pixelation of graphics.
Try split-screen if you think the issue is bad already. On split-screen, even up-close objects render like that. At least, they did on the level “Infinity”. After the really bad experience with that, I didn’t even bother with anything else in the game on split-screen.
Console was designed in 03/04 and released in 05. The hardware is ancient and can’t cope with all of the rendering demands the game places on it. We need an Xbox 720. There’s nothing wrong with H4, it’s the hardware
