Dissapointed with the Promethean Weapons!!!

They all look ‘samey’.
This was never the case for weapons before because each Covenant and UNSC weapons all look vastly different and unique compared to the rest of the weapons in the sandbox.

Forerunner weapons? We’ve never seen Forerunner weapons in a Halo game. BTW Promethean weapons are Forerunner weapons and IMO they look really good. They have the same style but you can easily separate them.

Don’t know why I wrote Forerunner, lemme edit :stuck_out_tongue:
Also just to note, you’re forgetting the Sentinel Beam as Forerunner weapon.

Reason the sentinel beam looked different was because it was a broken part of a sentinel, not even a hand held weapon.

To which I still expect to see the Sentinel Beam. I bet it’s being kept secret till the Forerunner weapons are fully announced, which will probably be last of the weapons.

They’re all metallic. I think we saw that coming. I’m not disappointed, but I have yet to use any of them, so…

Yes I know, I wasn’t suggesting the Sentinel Beam is included in this, just correcting him when he said we’ve never had any Forerunner weaponry before.

I only have 2 issues with them. One is that the Light Rifle and Binary look a little too similar in first person.

Second is that the Light Rifle doesn’t disintegrate based on the PAX gameplay and I hope that changes. All the other Promethean weapons do, even the boltshot, I hope that was build specific and we get LR disintegration in the final game. I want to turn Grunts to dust with headshots darn it.

I agree with the OP; all Promethean weapons right now are just black with orange highlights, and angular and chunky and floating scopes, but just different sizes.

Covenant and UNSC weapons both have their own visual language whilst each looking distinct… Promethean ones just look like different sizes of the angular, chunky model.

Like Asari weapons in ME3, they all maintain some consistency. Its a different race, so who are we to say their guns look too much like one another?

No, they’re not ‘samey’. They fit the same art style. There is a huuuuge difference.

considering all the enemies that are promethean are greyish metal, and they glow orange, its no surprise that the weapons would be the same.

Yep that is one of my main concerns. The Light Rifle and Binary Rifle look too similar. They need to change one of them vastly(Preferably the Binary Rifle).

And I’m afraid I have sad news for the 2nd part my friend, they’ve really toned down the disentegration. Most of the Promethean Weapons barely disentegrate in Multiplayer now(Don’t know about Campaign, fingers crossed it’s like the E3 build), the Scattershot doesn’t disintegrate at all now and the same goes for the rest of the Promethean weapons.

they are forerunner weapons as cortana says they are, or do you mean that they arn’t used by the actual forerunners?

Eh, the only one that doesn’t register on my radar is the suppresor…

…then again, the only footage I saw of it was Nak3d Eli yelling “RUH ROH” and firing it in a circle. So I can’t really pass judgement just yet.

ive seen additional gameplay of it, and it seems pretty strong up close

You’re right. There is a huge difference.

But they’re samey.

Exactly.

I also think they look a little too similar, particularly the Light Rifle and Binary Rifle. Having a consistent aesthetic is not the same as just plain looking alike (Covenant weapons have a consistent aesthetic while still having large variation in their appearance). I can’t say I’m all that taken with the Promethean weaponry’s art-style in general to be honest; they look like they could be from any science fiction game, rather than having that special “Halo” vibe, but it’s not really a big deal (and I admit that truly capturing that vibe would be extremely difficult, regardless of the developers). They seem to have nailed the gameplay, so I can’t complain.

This isn’t Mass Effect man, nor is it Third Person. This is Halo, and weapons matter a lot in it.
