I tried playing Halo 5 earlier this morning and couldn’t get into a single game. I would sit there waiting for what seemed like half an hour and failed to get into a game because there was no other players to play with. I would like it if there was a way to show how many players are currently playing the game worldwide so that I don’t waste my time trying to get into an empty game.
On rare occasion when that would happen to me I would do a hard reset and try again and would then get games. Population counters usually do more harm that good because players will go to playlist with bigger numbers instead of what they actually want to play. You get a better population spread if players don’t see the numbers.
Menke mentioned in the updates that they wouldn’t be doing that for the reasons that Lethal described.

That actually makes a lot of sense. It did always annoy me that everyone played the most popular game modes instead of the ones they wanted. I did reset everything though and no difference. It was right after the Halo 5 update this morning so maybe everyone else was still installing it. I know for a fact it could take some people ages to download a simple update.

There was some kind of issue with the update, but supposedly it was resolved. I have been playing Team Arena since the update and I have had no problems.
It’s because of technical issues with the update. Some people got it way before everyone else, and you can’t match against people who are playing on a different version.
So what happened was you got the update early when things were running smoothly, then the issues started & nobody else was able to get onto your version until later in the day.
