"Disk Unreadable" Anyone had this problem before?

So today I was ready to play some Halo 4 today when I loaded the application and an Xbox 360 message popped up saying, “Disk Unreadable” “Please remove disk and clean with cloth” then “Restart Xbox.” I thought nothing of it at first and followed instructions, but the same message popped up when I reloaded the disk. Keep in mind that I bought the disk new and I’m the original owner. This was the first time I removed the disk since I bought my 360 and Halo 4 game a year and a half ago. All my other games are digital so I have no reason to remove the halo 4 disk. I also haven’t moved my console since I bought it. How could I have damaged a disk that I haven’t moved in a year and a half? I haven’t had any problems with the disk or Xbox 360 since I bought it.
Has anyone else had this problem before, and if so what is the solution? Who should I contact for warranty issues? Microsoft or the disk/game makers?
This is by far my favorite game and it would be a shame if I could not play it anymore or if I had to buy a new copy of Halo 4.

Have you tried any other game discs on your console - either a standard DVD or another game? Might not be an issue with the game disc, but your console instead. COuld be dust on the lens or something

Yeah I borrowed a friends game and it worked fine, so I know that’s not the problem.

Is your disc scratched or smudged in a anyway. Once you get the full ring(its a form of scratch) on your disc then you can’t play anymore it can’t read a messed up disc that’s if you moved your Xbox while it was on with the disc inside. Could also be issues with the cloud but getting it to say it can’t read just make sure the disc is clean and the drive that reads it doesn’t contain dust just simply blow at it and see if anything comes out.

it happened to me with halo 4. Just make sure that it has no dust or grime on it because remember it was sitting there for 1 and a half years. Dust and grime build up on things that haven’t been used. Also maybe a family member did something by accident.

The Disc is fine. Cleaned it with an appropriate cloth and the message still pops up

Hmm…at a guess. The game’s probably not recorded right. I mean the game’s there but its encription or something is wrong. So I guess you should get a new one.
