disintegration question

We know the reason that people burn up when shot with light rifle or scatter shot is because what ever is used in those weapons it reacts with living matter and disintegrates it. So if the promethean knights are not organic (as said by cortana) how come they disintegrate when killed by these weapons?

im probably wrong, but i can give my opinion.

The promethian guns are designed to kill the flood, which didinegrates them, so the bodies cant be re infected by those little jelly fish flood things. The promethians however, are designed to disinegrate when killed, so the dead promethians dont become infected. Now im not sure if the flood can take over promethians as they arent an organism, but thats just my guess. And plus, it would be strange seeing a dead robot on the ground. idk?

They disintegrate after being killed by any weapons, not just by their own.

The Knights were specifically designed to combat the Flood - making them disintegrate upon death eliminates any chance of Flood hosts consuming them for their own needs.
