Since it seems the banished finally have confirmation as an enemy force in infinite I thought it’d be fun to start a thread discussing and speculating what kind of weapons, vehicles, or enemies might make it’s way to the game or at least talk about what we all want to see from the banished.
I think it’s safe to guess that choppers and spikers will come back but I’m hoping we some unique banished enemies and weapons like the skitters, goliaths, and some infusion based weapons or the infusion engineer. It’d also be pretty cool if the hunter captain was added as a sort of boss fight.
Here’s to hoping the banished aren’t treated as just a reskin of the covenant.

I definitely hope that the Banished bring their own feel to Infinite. I hope all the vehicles and weapons you mentioned are brought to Infinite in some way but seeing as how the Created conflict hasn’t ended but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Banished are added in as quasi-allies which would also hopefully prevent them from becoming a covenant clone. Personally would be cool I think if we experience the Banished as both enemies and allies with either the formation of an uneasy alliance after some conflict or having the Banished turn on us after the defeat of the Created.

This doesn’t sound like a bad idea in theory since the banished are essentially made up of warlords and mercenaries so this kind of temporary alliance to help themselves works but the teaser made it seem like they really had something against mankind and they didn’t side with them when they were both fighting the covenant so it wouldn’t be very consistent in that sense. Temporarily allying with the created so they have access to their tech and cortana’s trust just to stab them in the back later might work though.
Hopefully we don’t end up with a 4th set of practically identical weapons.
Scarab battles!!!
The banished scarab is a good look
Mabye brute enhanced covie gear
In terms of gear, the Banished use a lot of former Covenant tech, though with more “Brutish” designs and functions. In terms of weapons we know the Plasma Pistol, Gravity Hammer, Spiker, Brute Shot, Brute Plasma Rifle, Carbine and Fuel Rod are in the Banished arsenal, and Elite mercenaries are seen using Energy Swords and what appear to be Concussion Rifles in Halo Wars 2. The Banished also seem to have a few original weapons of their own, such as an unidentified long rifle and what appears to be some kind of handheld heavy plasma weapon. The same goes for vehicles, with classics such as Banshees, Ghosts, Choppers, Wraiths, Locusts, Scarabs and Spirit and Phantom dropships in the Banished vehicle pool, plus some original designs such as the Marauder, Reaver and Blisterback (note however that some of these vehicles fill very niche functions that might not fit well in the main series games).
As for species among the Banished, we know Brutes, Grunts, Hunters (in various forms) and Engineers are present among them, as well as some Elite mercenaries. In some background material there are supposedly humans among the Banished as well, though whether these will appear in combat in Infinite, if at all, is very much up in the air. One major thing to note is that the Banished in Halo Wars 2 do not include any Jackals or Drones. Why they were left out is currently unknown (there are several lore-friendly possibilities), but it does mean that there is a possibility of there being no Jackals or Drones in Halo Infinite.
As for what to expect from the Banished ias a whole n Halo Infinite: expect to see a lot less religious fanaticism and a lot more pragmatism, with a greater reliance on brute strength in combat (no pun intended).
At a fundamental level, the Banished offer a way for classic Halo enemy units to be present in Infinite despite the the destruction of the original Covenant Empire in Halo 3 and the subsequent quelling of Jul’s Covenant in Halo 5. I suppose 343 feels that Halo wouldn’t be Halo unless we’re killing some combination of Grunts, Jackals, and Elites/Brutes. While the Banished have a different aesthetic to classic Covenant, I doubt they’ll be mechanically different from previous incarnations of Covenant enemies. I expect we’ll see a few new weapons and vehicles as we have with every new Halo, but for the most part I expect a return of the staple Covenant weaponry with a Banished coloring scheme on them. I don’t think we’ll see a presence of every Banished vehicle shown in HW2, as I’m sure FPS games and RTS game balance differently.
Honestly I think they will be the same as Covenant, same combat, same vehicles, just with a new skin.
If 343 just changes one milimiter of gameplay people will complain and say it is not “”“classic”""
With the slipspace engine’s demonstration, we saw herds of animals traversing open landscapes. It’d be cool if Halo Infinite has enemy and ally units directed en mass (behind the scenes), like a mini-RTS/FPS hybrid. There are already some squad AI mechanics in previous titles, they could use a version of Halo Wars 2’s director AI to bump up the scale of the game by one level. That is, the game would have unit level, squad level, and platoon/company level AI.
The banished offer a plethora of units, weapons, and vehicles to support a system like this. If nothing else, they should be able to fill a similar role as the covenant did in Halo CE.
I think the brutes will be back with surely some asset than those which were in Halo 3.
I don’t think there will be new vehicles but more vehicles with a new design.
