Now stop a moment and see how are things actually. Halo CE, 11 years ago, was a revolution on pc gaming about fps. Halo 2 was a reason to buy an xbox, while Halo 3 reached the highest level for this game (at least for me). Halo Reach maybe had something wrong about the new abilities, but it wasn’t too bad anyway.
EDIT: Am I the only that enjoyed Reach for its graphic/storyline/new additions at MM?
Summing up Halo with Bungie was one of the main games of an Xbox. You could easily answer to ps3 player that an xbox is better than a ps3 becouse it has Halo, no?
And now? Do you think Halo 4 has this feeling too? would you buy an Xbox only for it?
In my opinion, Halo 4 is nothing more than one of the many games made today without anything special, like Medal of Honor, CoD, Mass Effect and other games that have nothing making “more” special the console. (maybe the campaign is awesome, but only becouse we are talking about Master Chief )
Btw, the game is at its begin and could become awesome if they fix the various problem and give us what we ask for, but anyway I think Halo lost the uniqueness…
Halo 3 was the main reason I got a 360, and although I play plenty of other games on 360, if it didn’t have Halo i’d probably stick to PC or something. I certainly wouldn’t have gotten a 360 just for H4.
I think H5 will be interesting in this respect, presuming it will be on the next Xbox console. There seem to be a lot of people that only stick to Xbox for Halo, so maybe we will see a lot of people not considering future Halo games worth getting the next Xbox for. H4 seems to be more important to the future of the franchise than some people, particularly 343, think. Based on my impressions of H4 I certainly don’t think 343’s Halo titles will be worth buying a console over, for instance.
At least Bungie are going multi-platform with Destiny though. Hopefully they release a good PC version.
ODST, Reach, and Halo: Wars were oversights for the majority of the gaming community. Not cared for, never really will be. It’s not 343’s fault that Halo is slowly dying. There’s just a certain amount of time you can really carry a game’s name until it just becomes played out.
It happened with the Saw movies, it happened/is happening with Gears of War, it happened with a lot of tv shows, happened with Final Fantasy, happened with Battlefield, and it’s happened with Halo.
You just make so many awesome games you run out of ideas and stuff to put in the new ones that is truly unique and ingenious.
I don’t know if I agree with that bit about “happened with Battlefield”, SmexYouUp.
But then again I only really got into it with BF3, I think it (BF3) is a great game, if it was an exclusive game I could see myself buying a console for it.
Halo 3 and Oblivion were the games that I originally bought a 360 for.
I would not buy a nextbox/720 for Halo 5.
NO …Reach was not an awesome game.
H1-3 were awesome, but now Microsoft has lost a load of support (in the form of xbox fans) by not ensuring Halo was fit to retain the mantle.
Either way, the potential for the Halo franchise’ future has to be brighter than the last few years. I will continue to play Halo, but unless Halo 5 is better than all of the other Halos, it will be purely for the fiction, not for a lasting MM experience.
I will continue to buy Halo games. And Halo 5 will be the reason I will buy the 720/nextbox.
I have found many people I know who have started loving Halo because of 4. My sister hated Halo CE/2 and says FPS gives here headaches. Halo 4 she praises and loves.
If you like more than hide and seek FPS gameplay the H4 is your best bet ATM. COD or BF dont come close. But that doesnt make H4’s lackings anyless apparent. I love the game and the return of many core elements stripped from reach. But h4 has doen its own unecessary stripping via weapons drops, map weapons, ranking system, lack of clan support and the list goes on.
I think 343 will wake up with H5 after they see how all their changes really flopped. Just like how they reverted many of the changes bungie made to the halo formula via reach.
so yeh i will be buying H5 so long as it looks like an improvement over H4, which i still think is a great game, just not all it could have been.

The best Halo’s are the original Trilogy,
for me, nothing 343 makes, could even come close to competing with it’s predecessor’s.
Saying, yeah it was good for it’s time, or Halo needs change, are not the true fans.
Noobified is the word for Halo’s since Reach.
CoD players who try’d Halo in the past, could’nt get into the game because it was too hard.
and because of the back then ‘smaller’ community, they go try and make a ‘Halo’ game that appeals to /casuals (who’d enjoy a good story, or like to play MM once in a while) or gamers from other games for MM and tweak so many stuff off of the Original halo, It’s like they should’ve just leave Halo alone (MS) and make another game., and, i’m not even going to start about the money grabbing corps.
“True” Halo fans are just Halo 2 fans who disagree with any other Halo game and trash talk the people who actually like the majority (if not all) of the Halo games. TRUE Halo fans stick with the game even if it has lost its top spot, try to constructively criticise and are respectful to the community.
Although I am a Halo believer, i’d never buy a whole console solely for one game. I’ll be getting the next-gen xbox because of the potential it should hopefully have, one game is not enough reason to buy myself an xbox.

Mass effect is awesome… And I believe Halo 4 is awesome as well even though it may not be as good as previous Halo titles it is still my favorite game to play atm.
