> First off DDos and lag switches are pretty much extinct on consoles in general now. Most games run on dedicated serves meaning that if you wanted to DDos one player you would need to shut down the entire online for the game. The only way someone can boot just you offline in a game with dedicated servers, is if they broke into your house and unplugged your router. Second of all, reconnecting in RTS games is insanely hard the only game I’ve ever seen that can allow reconects is Sid Meyers games and that is because they are turn based strategy games. When it comes to reconnecting I only see 2 options: letting an AI play for you while your reconnecting, or your base and units just sit there. The problem with both of these is that you also have to handle resyncronizing a player back into the game. If you have ever seen lag in the game then you will notice that you will freeze for a moment and then the game on your screen will appear to be on fast forward for a short amount of time. This is buggy enough when it happens with a momentary freeze but just imagine if your gone for an entire minute or even 5 minutes while you reconnect? In conclusion if your having disconects in halo wars 2 its probably because of a poor or over worked router on your end, or server issues. Check your download and upload speed in the settings of your console to get a general idea of how good your connection is and keep in mind that if it looks good when you check it that it may not be consistent and could drop off for a number of reasons during a game.
No DDOSing is NOT extinct, hold your tongue! If you haven’t had your network besieged for over MONTHS I don’t want to even hear an utterance from you, MY NETWORK IS EVEN NOW BEING DDOS’D, if I didn’t have a COMPUTER NETWORKING DEGREE I wouldn’t be able to do anything but forum posts due to lag and disconnects!!!

> Not really sure what you’re getting at. I’m aware that if a game uses p2p, like most games on the 360 used, then sure you can host boot, lag switch, ddos, etc. If the game utilises dedicated servers, as I suspect HW2 is, there is no longer a host as the server takes that on rather than a single players box. In these cases you’d have to flood the server which would disrupt your own gameplay as well. XBL have protections against this kind of activity already
Um, all they need to do is DDOS your router, which is what most DDOS’ing is, meaning your connection to the server is blocked… XBL cannot protect you from that…
“Hacking is extinct” is a flat lie.
Let’s take a look at this mornings -Yoink!- router logs from my router being DDOS’d, SHALL WE?

This happens EVERY DAY for months. Don’t you DARE filthy the waters of reasoning when you don’t know what you’re talking about. There are people out there that NEED HELP and here you are doing the internets equivalent of “there aren’t any homeless people, I haven’t seen any.”
(If anyone is presently being DDOS’d let me know and I’ll try to help.)
