This post isn’t about the ban hammer, just the labeling the disconnects for what they are I know we are all tired of hearing “I got banned after I got disconnected from one game” only to find out they have like 10 DNFs in the last 2 days. I know how the Ban works and i love it. That being said, I get disconnected a lot and really don’t want the DNFs on my history, cause that’s worse than a loss in my book. We use each others service history to point out quitters and put them on blast, Im not a quitter and would really like my record to show that.
Dnf means “did not finish.” Not quits. So you’re just interpreting it wrong.
While I agree quitting is different than being disconnected, they still have the same results, DNF. Which to many might be the same regardless as they wont want to play with someone who won’t finish a game period, whether it be quitting or just losing connection.
People would disconnect their internet too often

How is he interpreting it wrong DNF shouldn’t show up when you’ve been disconnected. Did you come here to troll?

i know exactly what it means, im just saying a disconnect should be labeled as something different

and im saying just the connection to server lost error, not a true network loss ( Im not sure, but i think they can tell a difference)
The DFN should go on your record even if you lost connection or quit, However the ban hammer should only target quitting a match. I find it incredibly unfair to players that lose connection to the servers when it’s not their fault and get banned for it. The ban hammer should activate when players activate the “Leave Match” icon, instead of a DFN.

I agree, I would just want a disconnect to be marked as something else
play with your xbone connected via ethernet
get better service
if it truly is a “disconnection” issue then you need to address it on your end

Then I can just pull my Ethernet cable and never feel the ban hammer. OR just temporarily disable the WiFi for a few seconds.

with how ofter people quit, it would be more trouble doing that than banning them, every time you disconnect your internet from xbox you have to input your password and reconnect, you cant just immediately get back on, at least in my mind its more hassle than quitting and accepting a ban

What if its not his fault and the servers are the ones at fault? Don’t just tell someone “hey get better internet” and that will be the end of it it could be on 343s end. Ever think about that?
I have been playing quite regularly since launch and I can count on one hand how many times I disconnected. I also recommend using a wired connection for your Xbox and hard reset your Xbox before playing.

Not really, it takes just slightly longer than dashboarding, which people do that too.
In most cases, the XB1 would automatically go to a WiFi connection it “knows”.
Definitely more worthwhile than a ban that could probably be hours depending on how often its done.

You mean the “server disconnections” that just happens to occur when he’s losing?
Yes, there are such things as server problems, but if it’s a regularly occurring thing to the point where you come complain about it, chances are its on your end.

Dnf is did not finish. By being disconnected he did not finish.
The system would have no way to tell if you DC’d because your internet blew out or because you pulled the cable out of your xbox, unplugged your router, etc.
As others have said, DNF just means did not finish, so it’s not innacurate. Its also not the game’s fault if you have internet issues. I feel for you if you do, as i have dealt with that in the past but the problem is with your ISP, not Halo.

I cant get mad at you because you cant see a point for point play by play of how games go, just an overview. But i will say, most of the time that a disconnect from servers happen my internet is fine and my team is winning. Last night i was in warzone, my team was winning, i was in the Req system getting a sniper and lost connection to server.

Like I said, I know server problems can happen, I’m not saying every disconnect is user error. (Probably should have said “one” instead of “he”)
But all the game detects is a disconnection between the player and the server. Whether it’s by server error, internet black out, dash-boarding, cord pulling, etc etc. all boils down to a same thing, the player did not finish.

You can do that now if you really want to.
