Disappointment with entire direction of Franchise

Unfortunately, after looking over the new additions in H4, I and the semi-competitive players I play with, have decided this game is not the direction we are interested in going and will not be purchasing it. All the pieces that were Halo are now gone. H4 is effectively a clone COD game, with different graphics and guns. I will not go through why all the new additions are not Halo, you can find those by searching.

If you want to play H4 that is fine, I hope you enjoy it, but H4 is not a game I want to play it is not Halo. I preordered all the other games (excluding ODST) but not this time.

If anyone at 343 is still listening, please, please give us a H1 multiplayer remake. We have wanted it since it first came out we still want it. I don’t want updates, I don’t want new toys I just want H1 with better net code and live.

I’ve said before but I guess I’ll say it again… HALO. WILL NEVER. BE ANYTHING. LIKE COD… EVER! Also if you want to play halo 1 online try xbox connect I’ve never tried it with 360’s but hey it works just like live.

If you compare H4 gameplay dynamics, it is taking a lot of inspiration and design features from COD. That is not an opinion that is simple fact, you can check any number of gaming sites on that.

Xbox connect was fine, but populations are now too low, and lag is a TERRIBLE issue. The game is trying to play through what it thinks is a LAN connection over a cable modem. I have played plenty of XBconnect, it is fun but it is terribly laggy and not a long term solution.

Explain to me how Halo is a CoD clone.

I like the changes.

You’re letting an out of context, vague Game Informer article stop you from buying the game?

Would you like me to play a very tiny violin for you? Stop complaining!!!

I am not saying you cannot like the changes, but to get them you sacrifice the competitve community.

COD->
Sprint, and armor abilities (called loadouts just by chance?)
Choice of weapon on spawn
Removal of map control for weapon control
Spartan ops (seriously the name even comes from COD)
Drop in drop out system
Updates purchased for spartan in game
Choice of loadouts prior to game

and so forth…Please use the google.

I don’t think H4 will play like CoD. That will never happen.

You will see I am not complaining about H4. It is what it is. 343 can do whatever they want to it. I simply appealing to them to remember us the competitive community that has been here since the first days of H1. I hope everyone on this server loves H4.

And yes I am letting these changes, which are major and not really vague to help me decide before I drop 60-70 dollars for a game. I don’t buy many games cause I don’t have much money so I need to be careful that I really enjoy what I do buy.

I’m confused as to how Spartan Ops comes from COD…

Spartan ops in H4 and Spec Ops in COD.

Creative name.

Halo may be taking on new features like sprinting and AA’s v2 but it still won’t play anything like cod ever. Every shooter has stuff like sprinting and perks. Halo is just kinda late to the party. Halo also has a streak of adding cool features and weapons and not letting you use them until the next game. Like Armor abilities a lot of people don’t know they were in halo 2’s campaign and go on the forums to say its not halo when in fact its probably ancient halo. I think people are just getting confused when something can be compared to cod or a copy of cod

IMO, Reach brought alot of fear into me about what direction the franchise would go next. Alot of that fear is being realized.

I agree its no COD, but it still has some serious changes I’m not happy about.

I really don’t care what is in campaign, I don’t play for campaign. And if you think inf cloaking against an AI in H2 is a good way to balance a game than that is fine, but I don’t.

Halo is not late to the party, Halo is a seperate type of FPS following in the footsteps of UT and Quake. That is the direction I would prefer it would go, simple straight forward and no real additions.

COD is built around relaunching the same game every years. Tweaks yes, updates some, but the same core game. Why doesn’t Halo follow that model and look to what made it a reason to own and Xbox?

OKAY the game has not even come out yet and your beating 343 to the stick and beating them down with it. IF you are not willing to give it a chance then you can go play something else.

Also, was it necessary to make a thread about it?

Almost all those things you mentioned were in other games before CoD. Halo will never be CoD… that’s a fact. CoD is a twitch shooter… Halo is not.

Halo is not a CoD clone… stop assuming -Yoink-.

I wanted to make a thread because I wanted 343 to know how I felt about the topic. I did not make a lot of noise over H3, and I should have. I did not make a lot of noise over Reach, and I should have. I want H4 to be a game I want to buy, so I am making noise now.

Those ideas may have been tried in other games, but COD built a franchise out of them. Now instead of taking the Halo franchise towards its original ideas 343 is willing to head to the COD party.

I really do hope for the people who stay that they really enjoy the game.

I don’t think halo has ever been about being the same game like cod. What I meant about halo being late is that it doesn’t add most the features people get excited about to customs and MM until like 2 games later some of them didn’t get added at all. I was hoping halo 4 would break this curse but that doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment.

I love how you can make accurate predictions about gameplay dynamics when you’ve hardly seen any gameplay. Making such intense judgements about a game that practically hasn’t been showcased is along the lines of a childish tantrum. Watch the vidocs that will follow in recent months before you clench your fist in rage over change in a franchise that HAS CHANGED WITH EVERY GAME.
