I have NOT played Halo 5 yet. I am basing this on reviews that I’ve read. This isn’t commentary on the quality of the storyline. But I’ve seen that Chief is more of a supporting character in this game than a protagonist. Out of 15 levels, you play as the Chief…the most iconic figure of the entire Halo universe…for a whopping 3 levels. I was already slightly disappointed to hear the Chief would be sharing the spotlight to begin with, but I understood it. But to not even have a 50/50 split for THE hero is very disappointing for me. While I am still excited for multiplayer (which I’ve read is good), I’m a bit bummed about campaign (which has always been my favorite part). Anyone else feel the same?
Yea, I don’t mind him and Blue Team splitting time, but three missions is insanely stupid.

This.
Master Chief better have 90%+ of all missions in Halo 6, or I won’t be buying, despite the cliff hanger. He’s the main hero of the series.
Wasn’t a fan of it. Locke/Osiris really overshadowed John/Blue Team in this game. It’s not because I just wanted to play as the Chief, but because Locke takes too much of the limelight without expanding the universe that much. The split between the Arbiter and Chief’s levels were much more fair and they hugely expanded our knowledge of the Halo universe and made Halo 2’s story so much more complex. It’s just not the same for Locke. That why I think Locke won’t become a fan favourite like the Arbiter did despite his mixed reception.
It’s not unreasonable to want to play as Master Chief for a good portion of a main installment in the Halo series.
It’s also super cringey how Osiris save Blue Team at the end. It makes the game seem more like a fanfiction that a legitimate installment
> I wouldn’t have minded Osiris and Locke if they weren’t stuck in our face. Reed pretty much did this with Palmer for ages, much to the annoyance of Halo fans. This game really should have been about Chief reuniting with Blue Team and attempting to overcome his loss of Cortana amidst having to make some hard decisions relating to the Guardians. Osiris could have played a role, too. But their appearance should have just been complimentary to Blue Team.
Yah chief is and always will be face of halo… Sorry Locke you won’t be
My one hope was that MAYBE Blue Team only had 3 levels, but that those three levels were expansive and long lasting and would lead to a bit more of an even split in playing time. But that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Yeah I was expecting a 50/50 split over maybe even a few more levels with Osiris than with Blue team, but this is surprising to hear. I’m still going to play it, but it’s pretty crazy no doubt.
Yeah that’s lame
It almost feels like 343I is trying to get rid of everything Bungie made including the Chief and replace him with Locke.

Agreed.
