Disappointing Battle-Pass Progression

I first off wanted to thank 343 for doing such an incredible job leading up to the launch of the multiplayer. The gameplay feels amazing.

That being said, and I know it’s a known issue at this point, but I need to talk about the Battle Pass system, because of how disappointing it is. I believe in a previous blog post regarding the battle pass, the comment from 343 went something along the lines of that they wanted players to feel like they are constantly progressing through it, no matter what type of play style they may prefer.

The system in place now directly contradicts this, as tying progression to challenges alone, and on top of that having the challenges usually require a very specific game mode/weapon/equipment, which are all random, makes me as a player feel helpless to progress at all. I often feel that I am wasting my time after a match, regardless of how well myself or my team performed, because I was unable to accomplish any of the challenges solely because a piece of equipment was not available, or because it was the wrong game mode. Tack on challenges that require multiple completions of the same difficult to obtain objectives, and it makes me feel as if I have already wasted the money I’ve spent on the battle pass, because I can’t progress through it at all.

I know long term player engagement is a goal for Halo Infinite, and I can say confidently if the battle pass system remains the same, 343 will have a hard time keeping its players engaged. I hope you consider making these changes very soon, and thank you again for all the work as I do really enjoy playing this game! I think I can speak for the majority of players when I say it just needs to feel a little more rewarding.
