Disappointed with the Reqs

Is anyone else besides me disappointed with the rec system? I have spent more money on Reqs than I paid for the game. Still don’t have the one thing I really want. I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels if we are paying real life money shouldn’t we at least get to pick something and not have everything random all I want is the gunfighter magnum. It is one of the few Loadout weapons that eludes me I can’t stand it.

The REQ system is RNG (random number generator) which means that although certain REQs are rarer than others, unlocking them through packs will always be a random process (whether you pay with with REQ points or real money). IMO, there is NO need to use real money to buy packs, just play the game more and grind your way through em. Your SR is only 115, so you’ve still got a decent way to go I reckon before you unlock the good stuff, wont have them all unlocked before SR 140 if im being honest.

In case no one filled you in, BUY SILVER PACKS FIRST! That way you can unlock all the Common - Rare REQs first at a relatively cheaper cost and then when you buy the more expensive Gold packs you will only unlock Ultra Rares - Legenardaries. You’ll know you’ve finished your silver pack grind when you get REQ points back instead of permananent certifications. Hope this helped mate!

I would imagine he’s done with the silver grind at SR 115, but I completely second this advice in general as well.

You can also watch the major Halo tournaments on Twitch, or follow the forums, and receive codes for free gold packs. I got about 15-20 for each tournament (over the 3 day span).

People will post the codes here on the forum if you’re not interested in watching the tourney.

This along with the silver strategy allowed me to finish silver grind in 60’s, and the gold grind around 115-118 (don’t remember exactly, but it’s been awhile).

I’ve only bought the one time packs (voices of war, special HCS pack back in day, and a few others).

Most of all, just play and have fun! The grind will take care of itself in a reasonable time period (this isn’t greedy NBA 2k17 where 150+ hours and I can’t afford my favorite player still). Stay positive.

With the exception with some of the more exclusive packs, you don’t ever need to spend actual money to get everything in the game; RP alone will prove more than enough.

The req system is better than the map pack system. They just set this up poorly. There should have been more cosmetics unlocked via game play or achievements. Also if you are spending money on reqs and not using req points then that is on you. You can unlock pretty much everything except a few cosmetics with points. The only two things that aren’t available for points is voices of war and HCS team packs. Every thing else can be obtained by grinding out points and opening packs. It just takes a lot of patience to open enough packs. Also as stated above most don’t seem to realize to open silver’s till they refund points and then open golds to get the best bang for your points or bucks.

I’m disappointed that Halo has devolved to prioritizing cosmetics, to the point of having thousands of cosmetic pieces… and we can have these cosmetics that bring nothing to the game, but we can’t have traditional Halo gametypes, a complete Halo experience, unique maps, dev BTB maps (that should also play Warzone)…

The content that matters and keeps players engaged and playing the game, the variety and fun that results from a quality gaming experience, THAT is gone… or stripped down… but all of the lore fanatics can role play and play pretend and learn about how some fake space battle in the hypothetical, imaginary year 3252 resulted the development of “Omega 37-B” armor that doesn’t even affect the overall gameplay. Like, welcome to the real world people! I just want to come home at the end of the day and play a good game, and there’s so much “cheese” in this game that doesn’t add anything of value to the player experience… Less gametypes, less variety, lacking map designs… etc.

Its just so sad to see this, and meanwhile sales are declining, a relative few people are left playing H5, and the heavily casual Halo player is receiving nearly all of the support at this point. “Oh all you traditional, core Halo fans wanted Oddball the whole last year and a half? Oh, you mean you EXPECTED it, along with other staple modes that have been apart of every other Halo game at launch? Well too bad, because now it’s gone again.” …and for Covenant Slayer no less lol.

It’s such a middle finger to long-time fans… and the game’s back to its stale self again where only 3 gametypes are supported competitively and maps (where the sky is the limit in terms of creativity, but where maps have all been recycled from others to a degree)… “But enjoy your 10,000 different armor sets that you’ll never look at, and boatloads of recycled cosmetics.” This obviously must be what a quality, AAA title looks like nowadays… where you get a shell of the former game that you used to get!

Unbelievable man… and I mean, it’s great that we have free content and the ability to support the game, but there’s gotta be a better way, where 343 can better manage their time and resources so that the core game does not suffer. First and foremost, that should be the priority. When we can’t even get Oddball in a Halo game? KOTH? etc.? Come on…

It’s sad to see Halo coming to this… like if we had a complete game, and had all of this stuff, great… but in reality, we have a ton of excess REQ’s (that make money), without the complete game, and that speaks volumes.

If I remember correctly I was SR 120/125 when I finally had everything unlocked. I didn’t purchase anything with cash, points only. I bought 3 Silver’s to every Gold until all the Silvers unlocked then only Golds until all was unlocked.

I was like level 145 before I got everything unlocked. Though I was saving up a ton of REQ points and not really spending them, and then I never bought silver packs because I hadn’t paid attention to it saying it unlocked things too.

I agree with many of the above posts that the REQ system is better than map packs (duh, by far via common sense) but wasn’t done all that well.

I think the REQ system unlocks should be controllable (can choose what to buy / have to earn many) like Reach.

Dude I didn’t spend a dime on REQs outside of the Warzone Premium REQs from the LE and I unlocked everything by SR 127.

You’re clearly just buying gold packs instead of going bronze then silver then gold (you could just skip bronze and go to silver if you want)

I unlocked all silver at SR 75 and all gold at SR 145 (on my old account). This required selling a lot of items I never used, which enabled me to obtain upwards of eight gold. The grind really isn’t that bad if you’re having fun with the game. I would never pay real money for any of this stuff, though. Why should you if you can unlock everything just by playing?

I wouldn’t mind paying for packs like the Voices of War, however, but only because they aren’t available in the REQ pool.
