I logged on this morning and decided to jump right into the Living Dead playlist. This was mainly due to the update which was to have spooky variants of maps. I was expecting to finally play a game of Living Dead that didn’t involve me punching the wall as I watched the timer countdown to zero.
However, upon entering the voting screen I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I saw The Cage, and it got voted in. This resulted in me punching the wall as I watched the timer countdown to zero.
So why did 343 leave the default maps in the playlist??? Most players aren’t going to vote for the new maps!!! The new maps are going to become like Arena Zealot, they will only be voted for when they are the only option with Alpha Zombies attached to them.

seriously lol’d at the punching wall but a good point, haven’t played yet but hopefully the new maps are more vote-able soon then.
> Give it time, people will come to see that the new maps are fun once they play them a couple times (or learn the fat kid camping spots).
The people who play Living Dead aren’t playing it because they want it be fair for the zombies. They’re playing it so they can rack up as many sprees as possible with the least effort.

I find it awful how the community doesn’t care about quality anymore, just pixelated ranks (THAT MEAN NOTHING! IMO), K/D, armor, and credits. It is a sad sight indeed…
Did 343 seriously keep the default maps in the list, knowing that the playlist is as full of griefers and exploiters as it is?
I’m torn between commending them for updating Living Dead, and raging at them for invalidating their own update. Do they think this is funny or something?
i was honestly expecting the default maps to have been removed as well, most of the games i’ve been in are on the new maps thank god but if it is a choice between easy kills or working together then they are going to go for easy kills making the update pointless.
So far I’ve played on Spooky Base, Uncongealed, and Downlink and for two of the 3… it’s as I feared. Spooky Base and Uncongealed made things worse for zombies. Every game has had someone with 20+ kills… something I hadn’t come across before today. I’m also seeing more players over 10 kills per match. I normally do not score over 10 kills in a game of Living Dead mostly because I use my pistol. These updates push the shotgun into player’s hands… and the zombies have little to no chance against it. The only time I’ve failed to score 10 was when I got stuck being zombie for two rounds.
Downlink on the other hand really shocked everyone. So much crap is blocked off, it was horrible. Nobody scored over 10 in that game (probably because zombies had evade instead of sprint), but once players get accustomed to it… then that will most likely change.
The only maps I was able to play were the default maps with spookiness added to it by adding random crates and other crap. I never got an option for any of the maps you guys stated.
New maps are great for people who Haven’t had chance to try them out, camping is a little bit harder but at the same time forces survivors to move around more.
But yeah as OP said, easily gets out voted by the Swordbase campers

Thanks for the explanation, it makes sense but at the same time it is frustrating. The “new” maps do give a refreshing aesthetic, but I feel that the flow thus far has not changed.
