So i just beat campaign on legendary. I decided to take my time and enjoy it and as such have not read anything review wise yet. Was anyone else incredibly dissapointed with the story? I kind of feel like I have a big empty hole where some semblance of satisfaction should be. From the 800 ridiculous run ins with warden eternal to the virtually non existing blue team missions. I also felt like this one was way more repetitive then all of the other campaigns. Like hay good job on beating that tough group of enemies…here’s an entire freaking room of Knights! I honestly feel like this is the worst campaign of the franchise. I genuinely feel like this added nothing to the story or master chief. Locke is cool and all but where was chief!
I think its hit and miss, even though they talked and promoted (hunt the truth) commercials a lot, it felt like Master chief was more of a side kick/support character this time. which i agree with the non-existant story for him other then, what? Three or so missions. However, it feels longer then Halo 4 though.
Ugh, this is the worst plot in a Halo game to date…
The length of the game was great. Definitely the longest but yeah it felt like master chief was a after thought
And yeah the entire plot was just sooooooooo lacking!
I’m mostly just grumpy over the fact that nothing they advertised in hunt the truth even kind of made a appeared in the game. I don’t like when companies lie to the consumer’s face like that (and it is worse when they simply get away with it). Luckily I only watched a playthrough on youtube, I haven’t given them any of my money for a copy.

was just saying that lol, and the intel you find thats suppose to be “hunt the truth achievement” doesnt really say anything about master chief, locke, cortana. its mainly just current events happening at the stage with people and aliens.
uninteresting story, Promethean’s are pretty boring to fight, its not very fun to solo and not to much stood out fighting the warden was the best part for me but fighting him 5 times was pushing it. could of been worst (destiny’s Year 1 story)

Are you sure? thought reach was longer
Though the one thing that ticked me off the most, is the AI for your squadmates, either they just stand there, take the longest way to you, or for some reason have issues jumping over a handful of boxes and by the time they do get to you, your health timer expires.

No I could be mistaken. But it felt the longest.
Oh I was also kind of dissapointed about Locke “hunting” chief. That’s all the promo material was about. Oh no what did chief do that was so bad he has other Spartans chasing him. That whole thing lasted until what 3-4 missions in?
Sadly they just missed the mark with the story.

That didnt start until mission 3, then after that it was mainly running around trying to stop forerunner stuff, until you run into him again or well traces of him on mission 13.
So it went from, “hunting” the chief, to how do we stop a rogue AI bent on galactic domination

No, Locke was still hunting the Chief up until mission 13.
He wasn’t hunting to kill him, but hunting to recover him. All the stuff on Sanghelios was done to get to Chief.
Man how I have to wait till 6 comes out

This so much. They had changed the plot drastically and re-wrote it at some point. I recall reading the Master Chief had shot up a peace talk with the Convenant, killed the human delegate and kidnapped the alien delegation. What happened to that?! What happened to Locke pointing a gun at a wounded Chief?! Someone’s head should roll for this, because clearly the marketing and narrative did not match up in any way whatsoever.

Uh… Hunt the Truth Season 1 took place quite a ways before Halo 5’s campaign. It was never intended to be a parallel of the game, just a look at the fragile state of the colonies and ONI’s insidiousness. Season 2 is what falls in line with the campaign, taking place right around Meridian’s timeline.
I need to check out season 2

So now once again, I have to view media outside from the game in order to understand this game. This logic is so freaking flawed I don’t know where to begin. You’d think 343 should’ve seen Destiny’s story debacle and thought ‘Hey, we should totally do that too.’ because that’s kind of what they did here.
Instead of the intel drops, I would have preferred terminals that showed the history of blue team and osiris.
