I don’t even know if I can accurately express how disappointed I am with the War Games.
Insane rules. Insane load-outs. Throwing players in mid-game. What is this crap?
Nothing sucks worse that starting a game screwed because your opponents have better weapons and tech than you. Suddenly the game is about exp gathering as opposed to actually, you know…playing.
Watched one of the trailers where the 323 rep said, “You’ll know it’s Halo”.
Maybe in the campaign.
Would any of you have picked up this game and played the multi-player without knowing what it was and have said to yourself, “Man,this is just like Halo!!!”
And what the hell is it about turning Rumble Pit/Free for All into mini-Juggernaut? You couldn’t even get “everybody just shoot anything that moves” right?
They aren’t turning free for all/Rumble Pit into mini-juggernaut. Its just that they havent made a free for all playlist outside Regicide yet. They are probably making generic lists right now so that people get used to the new games and 343i can see what people like and don’t like. Once they decide what needs to change you will begin seeing other playlists like free-for-all, multiteam and others.
Also, the loadouts arent that much over, after a couple hours of playing you will have most of the weapons, AA’s and everything else so its not that huge a benefit for those who got them earlier.
“Also, the loadouts arent that much over, after a couple hours of playing you will have most of the weapons, AA’s and everything else so its not that huge a benefit for those who got them earlier”
The fact that it’s an issue at all is driving me to distraction. I like the campaign play, but the multiplayer makes me want to throw it out the window.
I’ve been playing muliplayer Halo now for over a decade, and this ain’t it. I need to get a secret decoder ring to figure out what combination of crap-tastic weasons need to be put together in order to have a chance in hell.
The problem gets compounded in games like Infinity Slayer compound the problem:
“So let’s let the players who rabidly play have a massive advantage with their loadout matrix, then let’s give them an even bigger advantage in the game when we give them super weapons that the noobs can’t ever get cause we’re already smashing them”
That was the funnest Slayer I think I’ve ever played in the last 10 years. “Mushin and 3 other noobs with battle rifles and that -Yoink- shield, vs 4 guys with Jet Pack, Promethian Vision, some green -Yoink- and invisbility, oh and they all get swords and rocket launchers.”

I have to be honest, if I picked up the controller mid-game and was using a unfamiliar weapon say a promethean weapon I probably wouldn’t think it’s halo. Good point

It’s not the weapons, it’s the basis of the game itself has been dramatically altered from being about skill, to being about toys.
I’m sure I’ll get over it, and I hope they’ll make it better.
But my 10 year old son picks up and plays Halo 3 online from time to time because the game is so evenly matched. He plays it every great once in a while. That would be impossible with this game.

The BR and DMR are both good weapons and you can get them in like two games. And if you can’t for some reason, they usually have a default DMR load out. So not sure what you are talking about. And if you are talking about personal ordnance…do better and you’ll get them too.
And YES, I would say this feels like Halo. This feels 10x more like Halo than Reach…
Give this game 3 months and people will start complaining like they did which reach and realize this isnt halo anymore. its funny how cod is becoming more competitive with blops 2 and halo is going less competitive. hopefully the ranking system coming out in january will bring life to this game.
Doubt it. 3 months and you’ll still see a bigger fan base than Reach. Its only a select few (like a couple in here) that are entirely upset. And if you don’t like the personal ordnance, play Slayer Pro.
And also I’ve had Halo CE at Launch and IMO, this feels exactly like Halo should in 2012, not 2001.
My point on the weapons was was just the basis if I saw something like the iconic assault rifle I’d know right away it’s halo. So if I had one of the new weapons on the basic of gameplay a lone it does play like a completely different game.
All the armor does not really go with the halo universe imo.
Kill cam is something halo has never had aswell as load outs nor are they things I would ever imagine it would have. So yes based on merit of gameplay only it doesn’t feel like halo.
Honestly it feels like a overly polished clone of halo, but not halo. I think 343 put way to much effort into production value than story and gameplay itself.
I also don’t understand why they removed things. Why not improve the formula rather than destroy and attempt to rebuild it. They removed alot of very popular game types which i see unnecessary.
I was a huge invasion fan in reach and the fact they just removed it was a huge drawback for me. There’s no reason they couldn’t have spartan vs spartan invasion.
> “And if you are talking about personal ordnance…do better and you’ll get them too.”
So what you’re saying is, if you don’t “do better” you have a snowballs chance in hell of even being competitive in the game.
That’s just great. “Look, I understand that you aren’t as good as anyone else playing right now, but we’re going to put you at a disadvantage to start with. Just invest hundreds of hours in the game so you can ‘do better’ and you’ll start to get the super weapons too. Don’t plan on going anywhere for the next 6 months though.”
Reach was as Halo as it comes. Level playing field for every player. That’s not what this is.

This game is far from perfect, I even understand that. And there are tweaks here and there that should happen, but the BOLD part…is just ridiculous man…armor and kill cams are such minuscule things to complain about…
what about something like the Suppressor getting a boost? Right now that game actually EFFECTS gameplay and its useless…even in Campaign…

lmaowut?? lol
I enjoyed Reach a lot myself…but really? REALLY??@? lmao

On paper, it is similar to Call of Duty, but in actuality they’re very different. You can’t spawn with rockets and snipers and other power weapons.
How is Instant Re-spawn “unfair” if everybody can do it?
I agree with this, the join in session progress at least needs to be optional and that’s it. I’ve suffered far too many losses in my DAY of owning this due to being thrown into losing matches.

I’m not complaining I’m just making the point that if I picked up this game with just my prior knowledge of the rest of the halo series I would think it’s a halo clone not halo itself.
Of course in reality I’d know its halo due to the weapons, iconic sounds and so on, but based on gameplay merit alone it is a large change for the halo series and I’m not saying that’s bad. I’ve only played a few games so far and I do enjoy it.
Personally, I’m not that upset about loadouts I think they’re cool. Not a fan of kill cam but I’ll get over it. Not sure what I think about the whole ordnance dropping and random weapon spawns yet will also take time to get use to.
Right now my big beef is with (imo) mediocre maps, and lack of really any gametypes that take to my interest. I’m sure halo 4 will get refined through time though.
I just wish there was invasion or some equivalent. (tried dominion not really my cup of tea)
Side note: I haven’t used the Suppressor in war games however I didn’t see anything wrong with it in campaign
You’re talking about game types now, not even the actual gameplay. And no, the basics haven’t changed. Each weapon still have a certain kill times. Some faster, some slower. You still have to drop their shield before you can kill them. I’m starting to not even fully understand how you think Reach was Halo, but this is not.
This game is EVERYTHING people wanted out of Reach, that that game did horribly.
