Disappointed Critique of Infinite Multiplayer

After playing the beta over the past two weekends, I can honestly say that Halo has devolved. This game feels much less like Halo than any of the previous games. 343 should have built upon Halo 5 instead of changing the game completely. I cannot believe it has taken them this many years to develop a game that is not only unimpressive, but a major disappointment to a fan that has been eagerly awaiting the release of a new Halo game ever since the Halo 5 community essentially went extinct. I do not feel that this game was made for the existing fans of Halo.

Movement/Graphics
The play speed of Halo Infinite is so much slower than Halo 5, removing thrusters was a huge mistake. The movement of your character feels so sluggish and heavy, even with the sprinting. The grapple hooks were a decent idea but players should spawn with them instead of having to pick them up on the map. The movement feels sloppy in general. The graphics are awful and not in the style of Halo. The interaction between the player and environment feels and looks so unnatural.

Weapons:
Halo Infinite feels like COD. It is no longer about who is the more skilled/accurate player, it is about who gets the first shot off.
The Sidekick is much weaker than the H5 magnum and has limited range, this was one of the most disappointing changes in my opinion. It makes it difficult to challenge in a fight with your default weapons, especially with the odd weapon distribution on the maps. Every weapon in Halo Infinite is a letdown other than possibly the BR. The bulldog is too weak, even at point blank range. The sniper rifle aiming feels off and the shots have too much recoil. The pulse carbine feels utterly useless, the plasma pistol misses 90% of the shots, the Heatwave is weak and a total downgrade from the scattershot. NONE of the weapons stood out in a positive way.

I agree with some of this. I feel like we should get a base charge of two grapples. Barring that, the thrusters would be a good re-include.

Thrusters? No.

A majority of your post is contradiction after contradiction and I’m not sure you realise it.

You say it is nothing like previous Halos and then say that it needs to be more like Halo 5 and have thrusters, which is widely considered the largest departure from Halo ever.

You say the graphics are not in the style of Halo and yet they are much more in line with traditional Halo graphics than 4 or 5 ever were.

You say the game feels more like CoD and yet Halo 4 actually took many aspects of CoD into it’s multiplayer such as kill streaks even, something that Halo Infinite is not doing

You say the time to kill is too fast and then in the same paragraph complain that most weapons do not do enough damage.

You can’t have it both ways man, and when you say things like “existing Halo fans” and “more like what Halo used to be” I think what you really mean is “More like Halo 5 and for Halo 5 fans”. Now obviously this is not what Infinite is, but don’t kid yourself by thinking this is what Halo has been for it’s entire life. Infinite is much closer to traditional Halo than any 343 game has been and I for one am very happy with that change.

Disappoint one fan, delight ten fans.

The Halo 5 community went extinct? What happen, if I may ask?

I think it would be cool if abilities were on a cool down instead or pickup items.

Dude, you’re a nutcase, this game feels and looks incredible. Also the “Halo 5 community” went extinct because it was an inferior game to the original ones. That’s why 343 finally learned not to mess with the formula and bring things back to what you describe “sluggish” movement and power up pickups, but in reality this fosters strategic play and less cod-esque twitch junk for crackheads.

No way, then every match would feel the same. Imagine having access to everything every match, no more awesome moments when you got dope stuff and did cool things. Moderation cultivates fun. Pickups are there because it puts everyone on a level playing field and whoever gets it, gets it. Competition and FUN.
