Disappointed by Halo Bulletin

Very disappointed to see that support for Halo 3 over the next couple weeks will be extremely limited.

I know we aren’t getting a consolidation, but is there any way we could maybe get the DLC requirements lifted so there aren’t barriers to entry? The game being “free” for gold members and then requiring DLC that isn’t free…

It at least partially defeats the concept.

I don’t know if this falls in the realm of things that won’t happen because of “legacy software” but just know that I am very hopeful you can provide this.

I’m hoping several playlists will have their DLC restrictions lifted.
Especially Rumble Pit and Big Team.

Surely there’s some way the DLC requirements can be lifted.

I’m really looking forward to this game being repopulated.

I don’t see why they would care about that. They can make far more money off the DLC if they just leave everything DLC required.

I’m very disappointed that we were practically promised a playlist consolidation and it was snatched away from us, I feel screwed.

Halo 3 will get a population boost but it will be short lived when people realise they can only play 3 playlists without spending money.

I’m a little confused on this part. Could you please elaborate?

343, go to Bungie and get own your hands and knees. Now.

Well, there goes the Halo 3 experience.

Also, 343 we’re supposed to consolidate the playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mpaG4dQ4os8

Im very disappointing by this as well. But there must be some way they can do something about this problem. Once people download it and relize they can only play 4 playlists, they will be mad.

343 is terrified that H3’s population will get bigger than H4’s. Nothing like a good old fashioned sabotage. Messing around with a few lines of code must be sooooo hard

Conspiracy theories? As far as I know, Halo 3 itself still belongs to Bungie while 343 is just “managing” it. They may simply not be contractually able to actually go in and change coding.

They have knobs and buttons they push, but if they don’t like the options, they might not be able to crack things open to rewire.

No, Microsoft owns Halo. Bungie/343 just develop(ed) it and make(d) changes. They could if they wanted to. I mean, who gave everyone recon? If they can give people armor, why can’t they change playlists that they said they would do for a better experience?

Hopefully there is still a chance. This is very aggravating!

If they cant consolidate the most they can do is lift most DLC restrictions. I mean c’mon, Its a ripoff to the new players.

When it comes to supporting things 343 sucks big time. It’s like they listen then they turn around and flip you off!

basically the only playlists that will rise in population is team slayer, i was hoping for big team playlis to rise in population but you know  atleast my mates will finally get it!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I expected like some fun gametypes like team shoguns and stuff. I guess they don’t really expect that many players to jump on.

343i has a good mentality of not interrupting existing games. For Halo Anniversary the only thing they touched of the original engine was to add skull support.

Looks like its the same for Halo 3. Keep the original experience intact, as it was left. It also gives them more focus on their upcoming games, no need to divert teams to update Halo 3.

A cool playlist would be nice, but I understand.

Honestly as far as I’m concerned, you’re getting an amazing game for free. If you want to play the extra content then spending $15 on the DLC isn’t going to hurt. Especially considering they’re on sale.

It’s not about that.

I think it’s safe to say that everyone here wants Halo 3 to be repopulated; both to revive arguably the best Halo game and to send 343 a message about the kind of Halo experience we want for any future installments. We fear that the fact that DLC is, essentially, required for the full multiplayer experience will turn some potential players away.

The least Microsoft could do is make the DLC free while Halo 3 is free, or at the very least, on day one.

But they have no need to. As much as I want Halo 3 repopulated I didn’t see Microsoft say anywhere that the DLC would be coming with the game without an additional purchase.

They could do it, but they have no obligation to do so and they certainly won’t because people in the community feel they should.

I don’t think anyone is claiming that Microsoft is OBLIGATED to make the DLC free (or at least I’m not). But it does make sense to. I appreciate that Microsoft at least decided to put it on sale, but you and I have both seen that even these low prices are turning people away (sad, but true).
My opinion is probably biased, because I REALLY want to see this game to be revived. But I feel that Microsoft can’t pass this off as a free game if the purchasing of DLC for the full multiplayer experience is required. Especially since the game is six years old and the multiplayer maps are free anyway with the ODST disc.
If the Halo 3 population increases regardless of the DLC requirements, then there isn’t a problem. But right now, I’m not sure if it’ll happen.
