Before I start off this is NOT talking about how we didn’t get the Falcon. In fact this post has absolutely nothing to do with the Falcon, just talking about the Phaeton Helios.
I have seen lots of complaints about how the Phaeton Helios is bad just like the normal Phaeton with its paper armor and how it’s so easy to kill.
What if the Phaeton Helios is not a variant of the Phaeton, but instead a different version? Think Warthogs. The Warthog (chaingun turret) and the Gausshog (gauss cannon turret) are not variants but versions. The main difference between the Phaeton Helios and the Phaeton is just a different attack mode. Normal Phaeton has chin mounted autos, while Phaeton Helios has chin mounted laser beams. Normal Phaeton also fires 4 slow but powerful missiles while Phaeton Helios fires several small but fast missiles. There doesn’t really seem to be much of a difference in armor but being weak is kind of a characteristic on the Phaeton.
TL;DR: Instead of thinking of the Phaeton Helios as a variant of the Phaeton, think of it as a version of the Phaeton. The relationship between the Phaeton Helios and the Phaeton is like the relationship between the Warthog and the Gausshog, not the Scorpion and the ONI Scorpion.
It says in the req description that it has more armor. It really isn’t paper, it has a noticeable increase in armor compared to the normal phaeton.

Well that’s nice. I wouldn’t know because I’ve never used one but I’ve seen on the forums that the armor increase isn’t really noticeable.
I wouldn’t say that the armor difference is noticable. Majority of it I’d say probably comes from people pairing it with the new armor mod at the same time now.
It just has to do with the fact most people treat the new Phaeton as a super flying tank when in reality you can’t treat it as such. Therefore people charge head on and get req’d because they think they are invincible. That goes for any vehicle and weapon.
Its all about skill.
Don’t forget to turn on wheelman armor mod. It helps a lot. I would say it does have better armor. I took quite a bit of damage in warzone turbo with it. Even survived a grazing shot from a Hannibal tank.

Yeah I’ve seen skilled players use it to its fullest potential and get like 20 kills with it while other not so skilled players get only 1 or 2 kills
I haven’t tried the new phaeton yet, but the old one was still boss. if you just stayed close to cover and poked in and out with the long range missiles you’re really good as a support vehicle. It would be nice if the phaetons had some sort of shielding like the banshee but I can understand why that would be OP.
The new Phaeton is great gotten 10+ kills each time Ive used it
i still think they are too weak.

Yeah, a ‘grazing’ shot. If it had been full on… well I’m sorry mate, that Phaeton would’ve been down.

Yeah I have to agree here. Sorry for the wait, it’s finals week.
I think the Phaeton and Phaeton Helios are severely under rated. They’re rare so people don’t get a lot of time to figure out how to use them. For me personally, after having used quite a few, I actually prefer the Phaeton over the Banshee. If you try and use a Phaeton like you would a Banshee, you’re going to have a bad time. 2 very different vehicles with 2 very different approaches.

Yeah. The way I see it, the Phaeton is designed more for a team support and enemy suppression role, while the Banshee is more for aggressive, hit and run style attacks.

I don’t have wheelman yet but I probably will get it before Phaeton Helios
I’m definitely not disappointed by phaeton Helios.

Variant: a form or version of something that differs in some respect from other forms of the same thing or from a standard.
Version: a particular form of something differing in****certain respects from an earlier form or **other forms of the same type of thing.**Let me just tell you outright… Variant and Version are the same thing.
The difference in definitions is negligible.

I was in a banshee once and survived 3 grazing shots from a Splaser. If they had need full on, I would have long been toast

Then what would you consider the relationship between the Chainhog and Gausshog vs the relationship between Corp and Woodland?

That explains why so many people think it sucks. They just use it wrong.
