Director for the Halo Movie(s)

Lone Survivor, The Kingdom, Collateral, Friday Night Lights, Battleship (yes. He made a somewhat interesting movie from nothing more than an old two dimensional board game… Can you image the damage he could do with all the tools at his disposal in the Halo Universe).

just as long as it’s not Uwe Boll.

Careful guys, tread lightly, my fanboy radar is off the charts… #PeterBurgFanBoy

No.
There needs to be a director, a producer, and a set designer that truly understands Halo and its characters/events to make a quality movie or film series. Id even include a quality screen writer. Of that, I think Steven Spielberg has a good chance, NOT Ridley Scott, and perhaps either Peter Jackson or some other visionary director. Heck, Id even pay money to see James Cameron take it on, even though the only movies I like from Cameron are Terminator and T2: Judgement Day.

I wouldn’t mind a calibration of Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Niell Blomkamp, Joss Whedon and George Lucas all having a potential iteration on the script or given certain episodes to construct so the plot moves forward with alternating perspectives independent of personal views, but giving enough of a perspective to correlate a different feeling. Each would have subplot requirements to enhance their envisioned story arcs, which they formulate independently… however… the overall plot is derived from the team aspect of all the subplots… this is more inclusive of the Halo: Television Series.

I still think Neil Blomkamp is the best choice. If only he was willing to relinquish creative control…

Joss Whedon would be perfect. His style of writing and humor fits perfectly with Halo’s style. I define that style as well written characters with light and funny dialogue set within a really dark atmosphere and setting.

Joss Whedon does that perfectly. Source? Firefly.

Lol you just described a fantasy of mine.

Michael Bay so at least Halo will finally see awesome explosion animations.

Just kidding here, as I know he would most likely -Yoink- up the lore by making just another explosive alien war movie, which would be better than no movie by the way.

If he was about to make a Halo Movie the recipe would be pretty easy, 343 just needs to give him:

  • a blockbuster budget - a random giant battle in the Halo universe (Reach/Harvest/Forerunners vs. Humans/…) - Someone who is responsible for the film to not screw up the current loreSo Michael Bay will put in:

  • A story that starts in the USA, so one of the two greatest markets is pleased - Some random Chinese actors that do some crazy kung-fu stuff to please the other giant market - Awesome animations - Pointless dialogue’s - Lots of vehicles destroying giant buildings and doing some awesome maneuvers
Honestly this will never going to happen, although it wouldn’t be a bad movie judging from how easy it is to make people confident nowadays (seriously every second song or movie is a remake, like there are no new ideas but even poor remakes sell awesome today) and no movie could be worse than Nightfall, that one was a joke :joy:

Dude… Have you watched “chappie”.

Suck fest

This doesn’t apply to our beloved Halo Universe but it does apply to Berg…

has anyone watched HBO’s Ballers yet?

I must say, I was expecting much more substance and less bling. my confidence in Berg being handed the keys to the Halo kingdom has been shaken!

I actually liked Chappie. Excellent special effects, and an interesting unorthodox storyline that explores creation myths as well as the nature of consciousness.
Blomkamp has yet to make a movie I don’t enjoy.

How about Peter Jackson  lol

Had to throw a District 9 reference in to this thread lol

That’s a great point. And I have to agree, all of his movies have amazing special effects.

I think it should be JJ Abrams because he did the remakes of star trek pretty well. If not him then someone who plays halo, it has to be correct before good.

P.S: that’s where halo 4 failed, its not good nor is it that correct

There is a Halo movie, its based of of the battles of harvest.

I agree that many like Joss Whedons writing style, but I dont like his film making and editing styles. They are too fast paced and leave not a lot of room for thorough narrative exploration.

If you want a very average and unremarkable film, then yes. Peter Berg is perfect.

The director you’re looking for is named Zack Snyder.
